Summer Safety Tip: Swimming Safely 💦 ⚠️ Know what to do in case of a water emergency. A person who is drowning has the greatest chance of survival if these steps are followed: 1. Recognize the signs of someone in trouble and shout for help. 2. Rescue and remove the person from the water (without putting yourself in danger). 3. Ask someone to call emergency medical services. If alone, give 2 minutes of care, then call EMS. 4. Begin rescue breathing and CPR. 5. Use an AED if available and transfer care to advanced life support. Have fun and stay safe! 🛟 #SummerSafety #WaterSafety #SiteSense #SafetyMoment

* Take swimming lessons, which can significantly reduce the risk of drowning, especially among young children and adults. * Use life jackets. In open water environments, wearing (not just carrying) life jackets is essential while boating. * Implement safe pool practices. Install a pool fence, self-latching gates, pool covers, and alarms to alert unauthorized access to the water area. * Designate a water watcher. This person’s sole responsibility is to constantly supervise children who are in or around water, without distractions. Plan to rotate water watchers every 15 minutes to keep everyone fresh and paying attention. Note that water wings and flotation devices aren’t a substitute for active supervision. * Plan for the worst. Learning cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid techniques can save lives in drowning emergencies. #Security #MarksmanSecurity #ExcellenceInService #SecuritySolutions #Service #Integrity #Innovation #Commitment #Drive #SummerSafetyTips #WaterSafety

May is National Water Safety Month - a time dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of water safety and drowning prevention. Did you know drowning is the second leading cause of accidental death among children ages 1 to 14? While water activities can be a fun way to spend time with loved ones, it can also be dangerous if proper precautions are not taken. We have compiled a list of tips to keep you and your family safe around water! TIP #1 from lifeguard Jim: "Never swim alone and make sure there is a lifeguard on duty." When children are swimming, make sure they are actively supervised at all times. Teach your children that they should only swim in locations where a lifeguard is on duty, or where a responsible adult agrees to watch the children in the water without distractions. Stay tuned for more water safety tips throughout the month!
