We absolutely agree with Cllr Liz Leffman's insights on the crucial role of transport decarbonisation. At ICRF, we are 100% committed to this mission, enabling train operators to shift road freight to passenger rail services, thereby supporting sustainable economic growth and improved social outcomes. Investment in rail and public transport is essential for facilitating modal shift, achieving greater efficiencies, cost savings, and emission reductions. Our approach at ICRF demonstrates how existing resources and capacity can be maximised to meet these objectives, driving supply chain innovation and enhancing customer service while reducing environmental impact.

"Creating better places” Cllr Liz Leffman, Chair England's Economic Heartland at the East of England Local Government Association Net Zero and Climate Resilience summit on crucial role transport decarbonisation has not just in reducing emissions, but providing better health, economic & social outcomes. Reflecting on the event Cllr Leffman said: ‘I was delighted to speak at today’s conference, which demonstrated the strong commitment amongst both public and private sectors to reduce emissions and achieve net zero. Given the economic opportunity that net zero presents, it is fitting that the Opportunity East report was launched at the conference. Our economic potential, powered by world class innovation in science and technology, offers a huge opportunity for the government to support sustainable economic growth, but this can only be achieved if we see commitment to priority investment in rail and public transport schemes, including delivery in full of schemes such as East West Rail, Ely Junction and the HERT mass rapid transit.’
