The Royal Town Planning Institute has received funding as part of our joint EDI project for their initiative to develop a robust, evidence-based understanding of the disparity between the diversity of students starting institute-accredited courses and those who go on to work in roles requiring institute-accredited qualifications. The initiative also aims to build on existing good practice to improve the collective understanding of retention rates and awarding gaps in education. As part of this, RTPI have committed to sharing progress and learnings from developing and delivering the interventions to Higher Education partners, employers and others within social science and beyond to further help address the awarding gap. Find out more ➡ https://lnkd.in/dZRWUmgF The EDI Project is a joint programme between The Academy of Social Sciences (AcSS), its member Social Science Societies and the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). The project aims to encourage and facilitate greater awareness of, and actions to support, EDI across member social science societies, by working together to share resources, learning and to maximise the potential to effect real and positive change. #EDI

jonews.ng | Latest Nigeria newsWAEC: Computer-based test will led to mass failure in Northern Nigeria - Forum The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, AYCF, has declared that the proposed computer-based test format in the forthcoming West African Senior School Certificate Examinations will result in mass failure for students, especially in rural areas of Northern Nigeria. The forum, therefore, called for its cancellation. Yerima Shettima, the National President of AYCF, in a statement released in Kaduna on Friday, said, “The CBT exams should have been optional, allowing candidates to choose between the traditional pen-and-paper format and the computer-based approach.” He argued that it would have allowed students to opt for the format they were most comfortable with and capable of attempting successfully. According to Shettima, research conducted by the Forum in selected northern states such as Zamfara, Jigawa, Taraba, Adamawa, Nasarawa, and Plateau, revealed that the CBT exams had consistently led to high failure rates among students attending public schools. He stated that even the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board CBT exams had placed underprivileged students in a predicament as they struggled to answer questions in a format they were unfamiliar with. He noted that many students who failed the CBT-based JAMB exams last year argued that it was owing to systemic failures, including insufficient facilities or network failure during the exams. The National President of ACYF believed that a lack of proper and adequate computer skills, coupled with outdated desktop computers that were not properly maintained by CBT centers, further exacerbated the situation. https://lnkd.in/ewXd6zGC #Uncategorized

“Education systems need to provide adequate and high-quality educational material and digital devices.” - Our eKidz.eu team fully agrees, finally “educational materials” are mentioned even before “devices”. The report (PISA) continues by stating: Education systems need to provide adequate and high-quality educational material and digital devices, and develop guidelines for their use. The OECD goes further by stating “it is important to ensure that all schools, regardless of their socio-economic profile, enjoy adequate and quality educational material and digital resources”. #pisa #europeanedtechalliance
