All new milk contracts issued after 9 July 2024 must be compliant with the code and every existing contracts that is in place between farmers and their milk buyers must be brought into compliance by 9 July 2025. This means your milk contract may need renegotiating and re-signing over the coming year, this NFU meeting will help arm you with the knowledge and support you need to navigate this process. This legislation, which has now been passed by the UK Government, is the result of over a decade of lobbying by NFU and the other UK Farming Unions (NFU, NFU Scotland and Ulster Farmers Union) on the issue of fairness in the supply chain. It introduces a code of conduct which every milk contract (i.e. those that exist between farmers and their milk buyers) must adhere to. Last Sunday, 28th July, was Brazilian National Farmers' Day. An important profession that is not only involved in growing crops, but also in sustaining local economies and preserving traditions. Their work goes far beyond what we see in the fields, being a legacy of care for the environment and commitment to global food security. Brazil stands out as the world leader in soy production, contributing 120 million tons a year. This achievement is proof of the work of the 5.1 million rural establishments spread throughout the country, including the almost 4 million hectares where family farming is present, promoting not only food production, but also environmental sustainability and local economic development. In this scenario, BRF Ingredients plays a crucial role, being recognized as one of the leaders in the vegetable protein sector. At BRFi, grains are selected and heat-treated, guaranteeing not only quality, but also a commitment to innovation and food safety. Steve Ronalds taking the stage at the Dairy Industry Association of Australia Future of Dairy Conference alongside CEOs Allan Hood of Bulla Dairy Foods and Fabrizio Jorge from Beston Foods. Steve is shedding light on Gippsland Jersey a smaller player in comparison to the industry giants present, representing just 1% of Bulla's business. Key insights from today emphasise the critical need for Australia to safeguard its core. The influx of dairy imports is concerning, compounded by the challenges posed by private labels and the shrinking dairy sector. It is imperative to ensure the sustainability of both manufacturers and dairy farmers to ensure that our precious dairy industry can survive into the future. #DairyIndustry #FutureOfDairy #AustralianAgriculture #BusinessSustainability
