"While businesses in the mining sector may rely on multiple approaches to excel in terms of addressing regulatory and societal needs and making profit (Blinova et al., 2022; Sauer and Hiete, 2019), the role of employees who are willing to exceed the formal responsibilities specified in their job descriptions has been acknowledged by scholars as a rare resource that can help these organizations succeed (Ansong et al., 2022; Hannah et al., 2014). These employees possess a bundle of discretionary behaviours that are critical for building the goodwill of organizations and spurring productivity (Gnankob et al., 2022)." see the full paper at: https://lnkd.in/ejgV-FDW

Founder & CEO The Femina Collective | Mining Leader | ESG Strategy | 2021 Top 50 Changemakers Globe & Mail Recipient | IRMA Mining Lead |
This morning, I attended a meeting with IRMA Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance where Deputy Director Rebecca Burton shared an insightful quote by Seth Godin that struck a chord with me: "You have the power to whisper in a world that is so loud." - Seth Godin The mining industry is notoriously loud, filled with endless conferences, groundbreaking projects, and the latest trends. We often find ourselves in a competition to be the best, the biggest, and the most innovative. Reflecting on the past year, which brought numerous significant changes to my life, I've come to understand more profoundly how vital it is to align my action and leadership with my core values. Living authentically according to these values demands considerable effort, yet it is immensely rewarding. I am passionate about supporting #IRMA because of its commitment to pushing the boundaries of accountability and transparency in mining. The growing recognition of IRMA is not a result of noise but a testament to its essential role in fostering responsible mining practices demanded by various sectors. Additionally, founding The Femina Collective was a step towards radically transforming the experience and representation of women in the natural resources field. Unlike advocacy groups, we focus on empowering our members at an individual level. Our growth and reputation are driven by the positive experiences and vocal support of our members, proving that influence does not require volume. I am deeply grateful for this quote from Seth Godin, as it resonates with my journey and the impactful work we do. I hope it inspires you as much as it did me. https://lnkd.in/gr8Knzip

"The Mining Industry to foster research of best approaches that enhance the execution of effective social cohesion and catalyze the much-needed territorial development" On May 16, 2024 professionals around the Mining and Supply Chain industries met again through The LINC DRC to share expertise and knowledge that underscore the importance of collaborative dialogue that will/should drive growth for the industry and inspiring ways to promote positive outcomes for all stakeholders. Three panels were at stake: Navigating Local Frameworks while delivering Sustainable Development, Industry Safety with its efficiencies to ways of doing business, and how Diversity and Inclusion is a trigger for effectiveness in workplace cohesion. I had a great opportunity to sit on the Sustainable Development Pannel to share my passion for this very important topic that will leave lasting-legacy into local communities and render them autonomous beyond the life of Mine. I concluded my interventions with the following two notes: 1. The industry needs to reinforce the effective strategic use of natural resources holistically, with a transparent scheme that integrates resulting products/services in the lucrative supply value chain 2. Keep advocating for continuous research of best approaches that enhance the execution of effective social cohesion and catalyze the much-needed territorial development. Thank you all stakeholders that participated, we will succeed in making a positive impact to communities impacted and beyond!

Cornwall Trade & Investment | Invest | Grow | Business Development | Strategy | Innovation | Coach | Funding | Awards | Strategic Marketing
A highly inspirational update of environmental initiatives by Cornwall’s largest employer Imerys. Visionary people who are challenging a global minerals industry to raise standards by Restoring, rewilding, regenerating & reforesting. Imerys is a significant player in Cornwall’s landscape, extracting and processing around a million tonnes of kaolin a year from pits originally exploited 250 years ago. It produces critical minerals for the energy transition and its Cornish kaolin is used in sustainable paints, coatings, building products, life sciences and natural solutions for contaminated land such as natural filtration solutions. Barren land has been replaced by trees in their hundreds of thousands, wildflowers and grasses are being encouraged back at great expense and so, even as a new era of Lithium extraction begins on the old sites, new forests and heathlands will eventually take over much of brownfield 'clay country' - a tremendous legacy for the region. Some of the initiatives highlighted by Imerys at the event: 🌳 2 million trees planted with plans to plant hundreds of thousands more. ☀ Switching from fossil fuels to solar, wind and small hydro to power operations. Globally, there is a 42% reduction target for scope 1&2 Greenhouse gas emissions, switching from fossil fuels to biomass and electricals 🌻 Restored more than 900 hectares of heathland - one of the biggest heathland restoration projects in England. 🌼 Soil Remediation to restore former mining sites. This involves reshaping the land, improving soil quality, and replanting native vegetation to promote biodiversity and create new habitats for wildlife. 🦋 Eco-Balance Sites: areas of reclaimed land designed to enhance biodiversity. 🚿 Water Management: recycling water within its processing plants and ensuring that discharged water meets environmental standards. 🚶♀️ Maintains more than 40km of permissive pathways 🥜 Away from Cornwall, Imerys is using peanut shells to fuel kilns in USA – just one example of the use of agricultural bi-products for biomass energy. The company is a partner in British Lithium, who will extract and process lithium from old, brownfield minerals sites in Cornwall. It is part of the larger Imerys group, a French multi-national. Cornwall is committed to carbon neutrality and is setting a national pace in response to the climate crisis: planning and building for a sustainable future. The region is a geological powerhouse with a unique mineral endowment - The Power of Cornwall, https://lnkd.in/gpa4AdJd explains how the region’s geology presents unique opportunities for the region. #powerofcornwall #lithium #biodiversity #regeneration #rewild #soilrestoration #cornwallbusiness #sustainability #ESG
New ‘Business Breakfast’ Series Boosts Cornwall’s Geo-Resources Sector A new series of monthly 'Business Breakfast' sessions, hosted by geo-resources businesses across Cornwall, is rapidly gaining popularity and generating considerable interest in the geo-resources sector. Co-ordinated by the Cornwall Mining Alliance and the Geo-Resources Cluster Project team, these events are becoming a staple for industry professionals eager to network, collaborate, and build relationships. Building on the success of inaugural session, held in June at Wardell Armstrong International (which focused on 'The Mining Life Cycle'), today we met at Imerys to learn about their "Sustainagility" programme. This masterclass delved into Imerys' commitment to sustainability, addressing the increasing demands for transparency and better environmental practice. Check this space for the future sessions. #UKSPF #CIOSGOODGROWTH #LevellingUp #GoodGrowth

The Australian Geoscience Council (AGC) is the Peak Council of Geoscientists in Australia. BIDDING bid to host the prestigious 38th International Geological Congress (IGC) in Melbourne, September 2028.
Voconiq has been engaged by Australia's national science agency, CSIRO to explore the attitudes of Australians toward the mining industry. This survey builds on a program of work conducted in 2014 and 2017 which provided some important insights into the relationship between mining and Australian society. Insights from this survey will: - be used to inform a national conversation about mining in Australia - shape CSIRO’s ongoing research activities - be shared in public reports and academic publications. https://lnkd.in/gdBipjd6
