On today's minisode, Dr. Feroz Osmani shares his experience in interventional pain medicine, reflecting on his training and fellowship at the UChicago Medicine. He discusses the importance of patient selection for effective neuromodulation therapies, how patients can access optimal results, and the benefits of spinal cord stimulation for chronic pain. He also draws upon an example from his personal life that illustrates the direct impact of neuromodulation therapies for pain management and provides practical advice for new fellows. This is the first line of treatment for OAB, not oxybutinin. Cheap, safe, and non invasive
This is a study I have been looking out for. Transcutaenous electrical nerve stimulation of the tibial nerve was tested during Urodynamics to see the immediate effect on detrusor contractions. Despite being a small study with only 12 participants completing both tests, it is well worthy noting the impressive effect of decreasing the average number of involuntary contractions during urodynamics from 3 to 0, and the average number of incontinence episodes from 1 to 0. What a great test of a low cost, accessible, non invasive intervention that has minimal side effects! https://lnkd.in/gqsh5c-B Authors: Javier Munoz Joaquin Garcia Pablo Galves John Heesakkers

We are pleased to announce the publication of a multicenter double-blind randomized, placebo-controlled trial of individuals experiencing moderate-to-severe postoperative pain following knee replacement and treatment with the SPRINT PNS System. The study, published in International Neuromodulation Society's Neuromodulation Journal, highlights the results from the prospective trial evaluating the impact of 60-day peripheral nerve stimulation (PNS) used for chronic knee pain after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Full story: https://lnkd.in/g375CB6n Cc: David M. Dickerson, MD and Josh Boggs, PhD. Results may vary. Important safety & risk information: https://bit.ly/2FU92NH
