People in Sudan are facing an ever-worsening humanitarian catastrophe. Violence has continued to spread across the country, famine looms, and more people have been forced to flee their homes than anywhere else on earth. The situation will only get worse in the coming months as the “lean season” hits and rains cut off roads used by aid organizations. Families like Ali’s have lost their homes, livelihoods and face impossible choices to put food on the table for their children. The international community must act urgently to avert a catastrophe of historic scale. The IRC is scaling up its programs to address the increased needs of displaced people, with a focus on protection services for women and children, multipurpose cash assistance, and water, sanitation, and hygiene services. The ongoing conflict in #Sudan has triggered a severe water scarcity emergency. Intense shelling and gunfire have significantly damaged critical civilian infrastructure, including water networks. Meanwhile, abnormally heavy rainfall has led to severe flooding, contaminating previously drinkable sources of groundwater. As inflation soars, access to clean water for drinking, cooking, and sanitation is becoming increasingly unattainable. Vulnerable communities are now at a heightened risk of potentially fatal water-borne diseases, including cholera, during a period when 80% of all hospitals in Sudan are non-functional. To alleviate water scarcity, GOALies are trucking water to displaced communities in besieged El Fasher, in North Darfur. Funded by USAID - Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance, GOAL teams are delivering approximately 250 barrels of water every day for the next two months.

Let's prevent Sudan from becoming a forgotten crisis. Our Emergency Appeals for Sudan is severely underfunded - only 18%. The ongoing crisis in Sudan has created a dire humanitarian situation, further exacerbated by a looming food insecurity and the threat of incoming floods. Over 9 million people have been displaced. The acute shortages of essential resources such as food, water and fuel, along with a seriously degraded healthcare system, are just some of the terrible consequences of the ongoing crisis. Despite all, the volunteers and staff of the Sudanese Red Crescent are doing their best to meet massive humanitarian needs. Yet, more support is needed. We must come together for the sake of humanity and to alleviate the suffering of the people affected by this ongoing conflict. https://t.co/PYglqRvePc

🇸🇩 Sudan Crisis: Shelter Thematic Report has been published! Sudan is currently experiencing: ➡ 8.6 million people in need of shelter ➡ Targeted shelter assistance falling to 24% ➡ Gradual erosion of support of host communities towards IDPs The conflict in Sudan persists and given the large-scale displacement and pre-existing poor shelter conditions, responders need to have an understanding of how these conditions impact populations amidst evolving conflict dynamics. This thematic report on shelter focuses on the analysis of the secondary impacts of shelter issues in Sudan and possible ways forward. Find the full report here: https://lnkd.in/evQ8vuBc #EyesonSudan In partnership with iMMAP Inc., and S/NFI Cluster Sudan (Global Shelter Cluster). Urgent Call for Action in Sudan As we sit comfortably in our homes, millions in Sudan face an unimaginable crisis. The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) has issued a distress signal, highlighting the dire food insecurity in the region. Shockingly, 37% of the population, approximately 17.7 million people, are grappling with acute hunger. The situation is exacerbated by the obstruction of aid delivery by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) . Reports indicate that vital relief trucks have been seized, preventing aid from reaching those who need it most. This isn't just about food; it's about survival, about the basic human right to live without fear of starvation. Children are dying every two hours in Zamzam camp, a heartbreaking reality we cannot ignore. But amidst the darkness, there is a glimmer of hope. The Sudanese Humanitarian Aid Commission announced the crossing of aid from Chad into West Darfur, offering a lifeline to some. Yet, this is just a fraction of what's needed to avert a humanitarian catastrophe. We cannot stand idly by while our fellow human beings suffer. The time for action is now. We must demand accountability from all parties involved and ensure that aid reaches those who desperately need it. Let us raise our voices, spread awareness, and urge leaders to prioritize humanitarian assistance in Sudan. Together, we can make a difference. Let's stand in solidarity with the people of Sudan and work towards a brighter, more compassionate future. #SudanCrisis #HumanitarianAid #StandWithSudan

3moHello, sorry to reach you like this but I don't have options. We're Sudanese refugees in Egypt and facing the threat of deportation due to an overwhelmed UN office that couldn't issue us cards in time. On the 30th of this month there will be a deportation campaign for those who didn't obtain them
