Digital & Social Media Marketing Consultant||Lifestyle Journalist||2023 YLAI Alumna||2021 Startup Huddle Collaborator Award winner
Last year, while participating in the YLAI Fellowship, one thing stood out to me: almost everything was contactless—from accessing elevators to making payments. This got me thinking about how St. Lucia could benefit from such innovation, especially for business owners who network daily and juggle countless business cards. The common issue? There’s no guarantee your contact will be saved. Inspired, I dove into research and testing, using feedback from my YLAI fellows and friends. After 6 months, I launched Smart Cards in March 2024 along with my sister company Blu Media Prints. These cards simplify networking by eliminating paper business cards, allowing entrepreneurs to share information instantly with just a 'TAP'. Share contacts, Google reviews, social media, WiFi details, websites, and more. I took it a step further and launched Smart Signs, which function the same way. Ready to streamline your networking? Reach out at 1758-712-4590. Let's make connections smarter! YLAI / Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative SLUDTERA Inc. #technology #smartcards #networking

Constant upgradation of Technology and Automation can entirely transform the game. It's amazing, the upgradation of Technology and Automation not only enhances precision, but it also reduces human error, which can sometimes lead to costly mistakes.
National Technology Day #NationalTechnologyDay is celebrated every year on May 11 in order to pay tribute to the scientists, researchers, engineers and others who help the country make progress in the field of technology. The first National Technology Day was celebrated on May 11, 1999, and since then the occasion has been used to highlight the country's technological progress in various fields. Theme for the event is chosen by the Technology Development Board (TDB). The theme for this year's event is "#SchooltoStartups - Inspiring Young Minds to Innovate". Thank you Cambridge Tech Week for a cracking "Scale-up Day" event and Gala Drinks! So many valuable insights to digest, but 3 of my key takeaways are: 1. Much scale-up investment in UK tech businesses is from the US and Middle East. Yet London is a global finance powerhouse. How can we enable more UK investment? The new government must play a part by "doubling down" and supporting scale-ups in the Budget. 2. Hermann Hauser's top 3 considerations when investing in a technology business: i) what is the size of growth rate of the market? 📈 ii) what is the quality of the team (is there at least one "star person")? 🤩 iii) is there "defensible technology"? 🛡 3. The UK excels at "creative exploration" and academic diversity in technology, and UK scale-ups should play to those strengths. Good advisers can add value to a scale-up, not just where external expertise is needed, but as "boundary spanners" across networks. (great workshop by Irene Graham OBE, Monique Ingrid Boddington, Cate Poulson, Christopher Ellis).

💡Introducing best practices and policies of more innovative partner regions to be transferred to less innovative regions🤝 🆕🇦🇹 The Open Innovation Strategy for Austria, initiated in July 2016 and led by the Austrian government, aims to be a role model in open innovation systems by 2025. It includes creating innovation spaces, embedding innovation in education, developing public administration through open innovation, and establishing an open innovation platform. The strategy emphasizes research partnerships, public involvement in funding programs, support for SMEs, co-creation training, and open data principles. It targets SMEs, large enterprises, and R&D organizations, offering consultation, funding opportunities, and networking events to foster cooperation and knowledge exchange. The uniqueness of Austria's strategy lies in its comprehensive approach and early adoption on a national level. 📈

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (#EIT) is expanding its network with 11 new regional innovation hubs, bringing the total to 17 countries by the end of the year. These hubs, part of the Regional Innovation Scheme (#RIS), aim to strengthen #innovation in regions that need it most by providing training, #funding, and support to local entrepreneurs and innovators. With a focus on collaboration and connecting local ecosystems to a wider European #network, this expansion marks a significant step in boosting innovation across #Europe's emerging and moderate innovation regions. 💡More: https://lnkd.in/eRXfd4qj

Hot off the Financial Times! 📰 In today's Financial Times column our Ilkka Kivimäki states that Europe has everything it takes to become Silicon Valley 2.0. but in order to do that, certain areas of Europe’s tech and research ecosystems can’t be overlooked. "Replicating the success of European spinouts such as IQM Quantum Computers, biomodal and Climeworks requires stronger alignment and appreciation for the fact that research-based startups are often best positioned to help universities realise the societal impact of their research. Only few European universities consider spinouts as an important strategic asset and actively track their progress as a part of the university's overall success, and this needs to change."
