Subject: The Need for Improved Communication in Psychiatric Care I am posting to express a significant concern that many patients and psychiatrists face: the lack of communication between psychiatrists when a patient is hospitalized. This often results in changes to the patient's treatment plan, leading to problematic outcomes. Our profession is in dire need of a Renaissance. Despite the availability of advanced treatments, we are failing at the most fundamental aspect of our work: ensuring the continuation of patient care. We must prioritize seamless communication and coordination to provide consistent and effective treatment for our patients. This will not only improve outcomes but also restore trust in our field.

Just read a phenomenal article by The Ken highlighting the critical state of #mentalhealth in India.  Shivani Verma Who is responsible for the rise in sales of psychiatric pills? Not psychiatrists.. 150 million Indians needing #mental health intervention, only 20% seeking help. It boils down to two key issues: accessibility to #psychiatrists and societal #stigma. 👉 Key factors: 1️⃣ #Accessibility to psychiatrists: Limited availability amplifies the issue. Well this was a blast from the past!! (& made me feel slightly old, won't lie! 😭😂) Clearing out my loft this last weekend, I came across this, my Record of Achievement folder. Unopened for over 16 years!! 😱 The last time I opened it, I was using it to apply for the job I'm in now. Inside were lots of notes I'd made for the interview I was having for this job..... lots of positives about how good I was at my previous job, that I deserved to be valued more for what I was bringing to the table.
