For many of us at Intuitive, our commitment to patient care is personal. For John Coyne, our VP of Brand and Creative, this commitment became a reality when he faced a health challenge himself. An avid hiker and cyclist, John experienced severe pain that required da Vinci surgery to repair an inguinal hernia. John's journey with Intuitive began a year earlier, driven by his daughter’s dedication as a nurse practitioner. "This was a place where I could make a difference in my own way," John shares. "At Intuitive, we are at the forefront of healthcare and technology." Choosing da Vinci surgery was an easy decision for John after speaking with Dr. Beemen Khalil, MD, MS, FACS at Dignity Health Sequoia Hospital—and knowing that his colleagues made this technology possible. "The passion and the unbelievable engineering and technical prowess of everyone that works at this company gave me great confidence," John says. As we observe National Hernia Awareness Month, John reflects on how this innovative robotic system enabled his return to the activities he loves. “It's crucial for patients to know that da Vinci surgery is an option,” John emphasizes. My personal experience with DaVinci goes back to 2021 when my husband got inguinal hernia. I was specifically asked for robotic surgery. He immediately discharged after surgery. It was best post surgical experience we can ask for. I am glad to work for a patient centered company and be part of journey which makes a difference in patient treatment

Amazing to see the impact Intuitive's technology has on patients (some of whom also happen to be employees!). The future looks brighter for us all.

That's awesome! The DaVinci robot provides my surgeon tools and capabilities that have helped repair my complex anatomy with 15+ surgeries, with many of them being done robotically.
