What an event! The inaugural Western Canada Economic Forum was filled with engaging speakers, insightful takeaways, and new connections. With a range of topics including economic policy, investment attraction, trade and export, provincial policy and key drivers, financing for growth, and Indigenous inclusion. The day wrapped up with an energizing keynote address from The Hon. Christy Clark who stressed the importance of reducing regulatory hurdles, harnessing and embracing the resource sector, prioritizing international trade, and creating a united front across the country to drive growth, success and prosperity. A few things that really stood out for me: 💡 The economic horse pulls the social program cart. We need both to create strong, vibrant communities. 💡 Indigenous engagement and inclusion is helping to drive even more economic prosperity across the west. 💡 The most significant trade opportunities are coming from the IndoPacific region and we need policy and strong relationships to fuel these opportunities. 💡 Western Canada has 30% of Canada’s population and contributes 40% of the national economy. We’re punching above our weight. 💡 As Canadians, we need to be more loud and proud about the work we are doing and what we have to offer on the world stage. Let's own it!
