📢 TWO MORE DAYS! The deadline to nominate for the inaugural Fe+male Tech Heroes Awards show is Wednesday, September 27th. Today we roll out our last award category. While all of the FTH awards are important, the Corporate Inclusion award is probably the most important of all. Why? Because companies are the ones who can implement DEI initiatives and drive change. We switch gears now to think not of an individual but of an organization that doesn’t just talk the talk. No “gender washing” here. This organization is forward-thinking, understands why companies must implement DEI initiatives and supports the employees who are making a difference to improve conditions and build opportunities for females in tech. 🦸🏽♀️ Creating a diverse and inclusive work environment: This tech company (large or small) has standards in place to assure females they are important to its success. The company gives women many opportunities to advance to leadership roles. ⚖️ Polices, initiatives and leadership efforts: DEI policies and initiatives aren’t just words on paper. Employees on all levels are empowered to make decisions to improve diversity and inclusion. 💪 External engagement: going outside the company with values and goals; working with partners: This company is revered for its policies and praised by its employees. The company is approached to share its best practices with others, often supporting events or conducting workshops. Female employees are ambassadors and recruit other women to join the company. Does this sound like your company, or does another company come to mind? Send your nomination before Wednesday, September 27th. On April 20th, we culminated our first annual DEI Day by announcing the Intentionally Inclusive Challenge, an initiative to drive actionable, meaningful change around Diversity, Equity & Inclusion for our employees, customers, and communities. The Intentionally Inclusive Challenge, or "IIC" for short, rests on three pillars - learn, engage, inspire. These pillars frame how we hope to spur and view action around DEI. Creating intentionally inclusive spaces allows people to show up authentically, share openly, and be receptive to diverse perspectives. This requires listening with curiosity to understand different worldviews and knowledge systems. As Dean Priester, Client Partner at Celsior Technologies and Round 2 winner of the Intentionally Inclusive Challenge notes, Promoting inclusion means fostering an environment where people feel safe to voice their truths and are met with empathy to understand different standpoints. Thank you, Dean, for your insight. By participating in the Intentionally Inclusive Challenge, you are actively working to foster inclusion by building your understanding of DE&I concepts and applying them in real time. Efforts like these go a long way towards upholding a culture of inclusion. Are you Intentionally Inclusive? Join us and take the challenge today!!! Partnered with Rachel Crowther, founder of Squash yesterday for an immersive session on how we can all tackle gender bias in the workplace and beyond. Elevated, open and engaging conversations with the brilliant team at Motorola Solutions. So much energy, proactivity, lots of practical ideas. We explored the small, often uncomfortable daily actions we can all take to disrupt bias. Tackling gender bias is an everyone issue, not just a 'women's issue', and having a room of both men and women willing to have courageous conversations is exactly how progress is made. Thank-you Lisa Bentley-Smith and Joanne Knight for organising and making this happen.

Inclusion and Belonging are critical components of our culture and who we are at Convex. So important, that everyone at Convex was invited to join our Inclusions Workshops. We partnered on the design with Thompson Harrison and the V&A Museum in London, and Masterworks in Bermuda, where we held these sessions. The V&A and Masterworks were tremendous settings as are museums for everyone and reflects so many parts of our heritage. We created these workshops to intentionally be very different from the traditional unconscious bias train or other inclusion training. Instead we designed opportunities to be curious, to connect and reflect on how we could translate the learnings into our daily lives. This included hearing from key note speakers sharing their stories, sessions with the museum curators and time together in teams exploring how we can really improve belonging. Our industry is not leading the way in terms of Inclusion and Belonging and so at Convex we are consciously trying to help move things forward from the historic legacy, which is what makes it even more important to invest our time to make a difference both now and in the future. Take a look at this short video as a taster of what we experienced
