Ipsos B&A is pleased to have played a role in the "Climate Change's Four Irelands" initiative conducted by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Ireland and the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication. Findings show that while awareness of climate change is very high, there are considerable disparities in the perceptions of its causes among different audiences. About one in five of the Alarmed, and about two in five of the Concerned incorrectly say that climate change is “caused about equally by human activities and natural changes”. #IpsosBandaSurvey #Insights #ClimateChange #Environment #BeSure #DelveDeeper Laura Barbonetti John O'Mahony
Calling all climate communicators 📣 The EPA has just released a valuable report for anyone trying to communicate messages in the environmental or climate change space. “Climate Change’s Four Irelands” identifies four different audiences of people in Ireland who share a similar set of beliefs, attitudes, and behaviours relating to climate change. This work was undertaken by the EPA and the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication, and provides an update on the ‘Climate Change in the Irish Mind’ project. Speaking about the report, EPA Programme Manager Mary Frances Rochford said: “Successfully addressing the challenge of climate change requires a diversity of messages, messengers, and methods that reach each of these four audiences and must be tailored to meet their particular needs. This analysis provides a useful framework to help climate communicators identify and understand their target audiences to engage the public more effectively about climate change and solutions.” Read the full report and the breakdown of the 4 types of attitudes towards climate change in Ireland: https://bit.ly/3A5ZjQA
