Title: Huawei's French Offices Raided by Financial Prosecutors In a recent development, Huawei's offices in France underwent a search as part of a preliminary probe by the financial prosecutor's office, focusing on alleged "breach of probity." The tech giant, confirming the search, assures full cooperation with authorities. This preliminary investigation, not implying wrongdoing, explores a range of offenses, including corruption and influence peddling. Huawei, present in France for over two decades, emphasizes compliance with local laws and regulations. Huawei's 2020 announcement of a €200 million investment in a French factory for wireless communications equipment aimed at manufacturing €1 billion worth of products annually. Despite European nations restricting Huawei's role in 5G networks, the company remains confident about its operations in France. The Alsace-based factory, set to commence operations by 2025, plans to contribute to France's tech ecosystem with substantial investments in research, reinforcing Huawei's commitment to innovation in the region. #huawei #TechNews #BusinessUpdates #news

Deputy Secretary-General, European Cyber Security Organisation (ECSO)/ CYBERSEC - European Cybersecurity Forum Initiator / FMR cybersecurity supply chain director at the global bank
Calling all geopolitics, technology, and future enthusiasts! Two points: 1️⃣ If you're looking to understand the current and emerging geopolitical landscape, I highly recommend an excellent book by Elisabeth titled Goodbye Globalization: The Return of a Divided World. Edward Lucas himself recommended the book! 2️⃣ Please join us for this debate where we'll be decoding the future: geopolitics, tech & beyond (yeah, we're aiming high, but that's the exciting part, right? 😉 Thank you, Lise (and amazing ETNO Association) for having European Cyber Security Organisation (ECSO). Check out the impressive line-up 👇
In exactly two weeks: Goodbye Globalization (and the future of tech and telecoms in an increasingly divided world) in Brussels. I will be discussing with Lise Fuhr (Director General, ETNO Association), Joanna Świątkowska, PhD (ECSO Deputy Secretary General) and Thibaut Kleiner (Director for Policy, Strategy and Outreach, DG CNECT, European Commission), moderated by WSJ Bureau Chief Dan Michaels. 5-7pm at Boulevard du Regent 43-44. Spaces are limited (those who have been individually invited: you're on the guest list!). Really looking forward to this conversation about one of the sectors most exposed to the risks of a fracturing world. More details and registration: https://lnkd.in/eYNjjjc4

🔍 We are delighted to announce the release of our Non-Terrestrial Networking Expert Working Group’s Future Capability Paper, which sets out a view of the UK telecoms ecosystem’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats around Non-Terrestrial Networking. The paper explores the rapid convergence between terrestrial networks and space networks and opens up new business models, improving coverage, resilience and capacity. Critically, the paper also highlights the lack of awareness around the new issues raised by NTN. It is a network involving moving entities not faced before in mobile networks and there’s much work to be done to prepare the industry. We congratulate the new Commissioners-designate as they move to confirmation hearings. We strongly support competitiveness-oriented reforms in telecoms and the call for a Digital Networks Act and competition policy modernization as outlined in President von der Leyen’s mission letters. We are looking forward to collaborating with all members of the College and will be delighted to offer our expertise to all, including EVPs Teresa Ribera, Henna Virkkunen and Stéphane Séjourné who take up crucial tasks in tech, competition, security and sustainability matters. Digital networks and telecom innovation are vital for Europe's socio-economic growth, sustainability and security. Also, they can be a major lever in achieving the goals of the new European Commission. Read more: https://bit.ly/3ZsfIJt

Still on the International Open RAN Symposium Day 2 - Policy Track & Technical Track. I atteded the Policy Track sessions Another inspiring and action-packed day at the International Open RAN Symposium! Day 2 continued to build on the momentum from yesterday, with key discussions centered around policies, capacity building, and public-private sector cooperation. We started with insightful opening remarks from Jaisha Wray of NTIA, followed by a comprehensive summary of Day 1 by Andy Thiessen from MITRE (who has able represented by a collegaue of his), setting the scene for the day ahead. Roman Packa’s briefing on the Prague Proposals was a highlight, offering valuable insights into telecommunications supplier diversity and 5G security. The panel on the Implementation of the Prague Proposals brought together experts like Tom Rondeau (DOD/FutureG), Tiffany Lin (ITRI/Taiwan), and others, discussing the crucial policies and regulations that will drive the adoption of Open RAN. Following this, another dynamic panel focused on Capacity Building and Financing, where leaders from USTDA, Asia Open RAN Academy, USAID, and JBIC shared insights on how to support Open RAN deployments worldwide. In the afternoon, the focus shifted to the future, with a panel on What’s Next for Global Open RAN. Leaders from Intel, Telus, and NTT engaged in discussions about how the private and public sectors can collaborate to accelerate Open RAN's global deployment. T he importance of standards bodies was also a hot topic, with a panel moderated by NTIA's Daniel Henry, featuring experts from Ericsson, Digital Catapult, ATIS, and 3GPP. We wrapped up the day with insightful breakout sessions and a technical track summary by Julie Kub (NTIA). These breakout discussions fostered deeper dives into specific technical and policy issues that will shape the roadmap for Open RAN’s continued success. Another remarkable day, filled with forward-thinking discussions and global cooperation. Looking forward to Day 3! #OpenRAN #Telecommunications #5G #TelecomInnovation #TechnologyStandards #EmergingMarkets

ETSI is pleased to support 6GSymposium taking place on 9-11 April 2024. 6GSymposium comes at a vital time in the development of telecoms. There are drastically different visions for what 6G needs to do and to be, and interests pulling stakeholders in many different directions. How do we avoid the mistakes of the past? Only by a deliberate evolution of mindsets, business relations, strategies and industry processes alongside technology and policy evolution. Perhaps then we can build commercially successful future services which deliver the societal impact governments need. Join ETSI at 6GSymposium, alongside experts from around the world debating the most important issues and controversies facing telecoms’ development. Have your say, learn and network with key stakeholders from across telecoms and beyond. David Boswarthick, Director New Technologies, ETSI will present ETSI's approach to research and innovation as well as some initial thoughts on 6G technology building blocks and potential standardization roadmaps on Wednesday 10 April at 09:00 EEST, in the session How Can Standards Processes Deliver the Best Outcomes for 6G?
