“Winning tomorrow starts today.” I came across this quote as I’m at ORD heading to SYR for client work this week. It’s wonderful working with an organization that is committed to aligning all of its employees on their service standards. What we are learning is that serving customers may come more naturally than serving each other. Paying attention to the employee experience and creating opportunities for individuals and teams to work well together is so important. If you want an excellent CX (customer experience) make sure you are creating a supportive EX (employee experience). What are you looking forward to “winning” this week?

Nobody wants to see low satisfaction scores. But a low score isn’t necessarily bad. Employees that don’t give out 5’s and 10’s like candy on every question are the exact ones we should be listening to! We want honesty - they are giving us honesty. Personally - those that just answered all 5’s or 10’s across the board aren’t telling us anything. They just mailed in the survey, put no thought into it, and are skewing the final scores. Trust me. There are more employees that just do that than are disgruntled and give all 0’s. A lot more. We should be focusing on those that are willing to take the time and be honest with us about how they feel. I’ll even argue that it’s these team members that are probably your highest performers. Lower scores on a satisfaction survey are not correlated to performance in any way. Nor are they correlated to whether the employee truly loves there job. Maybe…… just maybe…… they really love what they do and who they work with and want to see things continue to improve!
