Experience NEVER gets old. With over a decade in the Recruitment industry spanning various sectors, including healthcare, pharma, med-tech/device, and biotech, I've noticed a concerning trend echoing the plot of "The Intern." Are candidates facing ageism, and if so, is it intentional or driven by unconscious bias? In my experience, I've encountered remarks like "Client wants recent graduates," or "Hiring manager seeks candidates with 5-10 years of experience but no more than two jobs." It's disheartening to see highly qualified individuals, especially in healthcare sales, being overlooked due to having too much experience or experience from a different industry. Every day, I witness exceptional candidates being passed over, solely because they don't perfectly fit the mold of "corporate culture." It's crucial for organizations to recognize the value these professionals bring. Let's shift focus from appearances to capabilities and embrace the diverse skills that form a complete and effective workforce. To all organizations, it's time to evolve. Embrace the richness that diverse experiences bring and prioritize competence over mere conformity.
