Latest Industry Trends and How They Impact the Energy Industry: The energy industry is dynamically changing as a result of shifting consumer needs, technology breakthroughs, and an increasing emphasis on sustainability. The growing popularity of solar, wind, and hydropower can be attributed to their reduced environmental effect and falling costs. Government regulations, technical developments, and customers' increasing environmental consciousness are the main forces behind this shift. Let's examine some of the most recent developments affecting this important industry and how they are influencing its future: 1. The Growth of Renewable Energy: Renewable energy sources—such as geothermal, wind, and solar—are becoming more and more popular. Falling costs, rising efficiency, and increased environmental concerns are the main forces behind this change. Impact: The development of renewable energy infrastructure is booming in the energy sector. This calls for knowledge of the planning, setting up, and upkeep of these systems. While new players in the renewable energy industry are starting to emerge, traditional energy companies are diversifying their portfolios. 2. Solutions for Energy Storage The intermittent characteristic of renewable energy sources must be overcome, and this requires significant advancements in energy storage, especially in battery technology. Developments in lithium-ion batteries and other alternative energy sources, such as flow batteries and hydrogen storage, are essential. Impact: By supplying backup power and mitigating supply and demand swings, energy storage technologies help to stabilize the grid and also the total cost of renewable energy systems can be decreased with improved storage technology. 3. Decentralization of Energy production Another revolutionary development is the emergence of decentralized energy systems, in which energy is produced and used locally. This covers communal energy initiatives, small wind turbines, and solar panels mounted on roofs. Impact: In the event of significant grid outages, decentralized systems can carry on functioning autonomously. 4. Changes in Regulation and Policy Globally, governments are enacting laws and policies to encourage the use of sustainable energy sources. This covers carbon pricing schemes, strict emission limits, and incentives for renewable energy initiatives. These trends are converging to create an energy landscape that is cleaner, more distributed, and user-centric. As an energy professional, staying abreast of these trends and developing the necessary skills will be crucial for success in the years to come. #energy #industry #trends #latest #latesttrends #impact

#Renewable energy is #reliable and #inexpensive:Studies reveal that 100% clean, #renewable (#water+#wind+#solar) #grids are not only lower in costs but are also just as reliable as the current grid system. #Stanford study suggests remarkable savings made possible by clean energy transition:#Reliable and #inexpensive: A new study from Stanford University scientists could provide a roadmap for more efficient and cost-effective future #energy systems. The study titled "Batteries or hydrogen or both for grid electricity storage upon full #electrification of 145 countries with #wind- #water - #solar" modeled different combinations of #energystoragesystems - battery storage, green hydrogen storage, and hydropower storage-to find the least expensive and most efficient. '' Given that humanity depends on a #clean #energy #transition to address air pollution, global warming and energy security, it is important to ensure that new energy system is reliable and inexpensive.'' Mark Jacobson, the author of the study and a professor of civil and environmental engineering at Stanford University wrote. The study found that 145 countries looked at could reduce their annual #energy #costs by 61 % by fully transitioning to #cleanenergy. Results provide countries with concrete evidence and the confidence that 100% #clean, #renewablegrids not only lower costs but are also just as reliable as the current grid system. #RenewableEnergy #3XRenewables #TransitionToCleanEnergy Global Renewables Alliance #Hydropower Blue Energy Mühendislik #SolarEnergy #Windpower #FloatingSolar #EnergyStorage https://lnkd.in/dstR4xiW

These were the outcomes of a recent roundtable discussion we hosted in Dublin for our I-SEM subscribers: - Long duration energy storage (LDES) could aid the energy transition by filling the role of thermal generation, providing clean power to meet demand, while also improving renewable economics by absorbing otherwise curtailed volumes. - The deployment of LDES could reduce costs to the consumer, but the potential savings could be completely outweighed by the costs of LDES deployment. - To provide certainty over revenues to recoup high costs, LDES will require some form of support, with industry preference towards a storage-specific scheme. For an in-depth summary by Senior Research Associate Steph Unsworth on this discussion, read this blog: https://lnkd.in/eSc5a5nr #IrelandEnergy #LDES #AuroraEnergyResearch
