International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA)’s Post

The 42nd edition of International Energy Workshop has concluded in Bonn. 🎉   As host, International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) welcomed over 200 energy modelers and experts from 50 countries who collectively explained how to integrate climate change, energy transition financing, and cutting-edge data advancements into energy modelling.    Among the conference's dozens of themes, experts underlined pathways to #NetZero, aligning the #energytransition with #sustainabledevelopment goals and the role of energy modelling for informed policy making.   #IEW2024 speakers stressed that it is imperative to draw a comparison between previous year's financing needs of #energytransition and at present. Therefore, to avoid the risk of proposing impossible policy solutions, it is critical that modelling and analysis reflect the accurate reality of today's situation. Experts also showed how new resources for climate and weather data, as well as machine learning and #AI are revolutionizing energy modelling.   Thank you to everyone who joined us in Bonn and contributed significantly to the most pressing issues concerning the global #energytransition.

Thank you very much dear Thiery for the information. Given the value and importance it contains, we as research engineers will be able to make it objects of reflection to also contribute our input to the question of climate change. We would also be very happy to have, if possible, more detail on the solution approaches by the different themes during this large-scale workshop on how to integrate climate change and advanced data into energy modeling. Thank you respectfully.
