G20 leaders agreed to accelerate efforts to triple global renewable energy capacity by 2030, aligning with recommendations from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) on how the world can move in line with the Paris Agreement targets. In a declaration adopted on Saturday, the Group cites a joint report between IRENA and India's G20 Presidency, titled Low-Cost Financing for Energy Transitions, which estimates a need for over USD 4 trillion in annual investments by 2030. #renewableenergy https://lnkd.in/dRBmtAGz

Our partnership on the #FutureofEnergyCampaign with Mediaplanet reached another milestone as Diana Vaz, our Renewable Research Technologist at Irish Manufacturing Research, engaged in an interesting roundtable discussion alongside industry leaders in Ireland. In the company of Kevin O Donovan from Statkraft, Liam Faulkner from Strategic Power Connect, Chris Collins from Schneider Electric, Justin Moran from Wind Energy Ireland and Peter Lefroy from RWE we explored and shared valuable perspectives on sculpting a sustainable energy landscape for the future. Dive into the insightful conversation and discover key takeaways here: Why change is necessary for Ireland to reach a greener energy future? 🔗https://bit.ly/47trNzq Why it’s important for Ireland to add solar into its renewables mix? 🔗https://bit.ly/3uqYwXr Why net zero offers investment, jobs and money-saving opportunities? 🔗https://bit.ly/3utOgxE You can also check the first publication on this campaign and delve into the articles written by Diana and our Director of Sustainable Manufacturing, David McCormack, available here: https://bit.ly/47GalrL #SustainableManufacturing #EnergyFutureIreland #EnergyInnovation #PoweringTomorrow #IrishManufacturingResearch #CollaborativeLeadership

"As Australia accelerates towards a renewable energy future, a growing number of communities are being approached to host renewable energy. There is a huge opportunity to recognise and minimise impacts, working collaboratively across the energy sector towards shared value outcomes for everyone." We asked Sabiene Heindl (The Energy Charter) on industry needs to do in order to ensure the energy transition is just for utilities and customers alike. Ireland is targeting 80% renewable energy by 2030. The country experienced record greenfield #FDI pledges and job creation into renewables in the first 10 months of 2023. The likes of Orsted, SSE, and Engie are actively investing but sustained investment growth will be vital if #Ireland is to achieve its 2030 renewable energy goals. ♻️🌎 Discover the latest industry trends using fDi Markets 💡 👉 on.ft.com/3xKgAuM

According to the Deloitte’s Financing the Green Energy Transition report, to achieve nett-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, it will require an annual global investment in the energy sector ranging from NZD 8 trillion to NZD 11 trillion. Much of New Zealand's electricity is already generated from renewable energy sources (80–85%), which is promising for reducing reliance on fossil fuels in the future. But New Zealand still has a long way to go. Only 40% of the overall energy is from renewable sources. Thanks to Louise Aitken, Andrew Boivin and David Morgan for New Zealand perspective on the Green Energy Transition. #DeloitteNZ #greenenergytransition

Renewable energy plays a critical role in meeting rising energy needs, closing the energy access gap, and aligning with the Paris Agreement ♻️☀️💡. But the sector also comes with risks and impacts, including GHG emissions from supply chains (also called Scope 3 emissions). How can renewable energy developers decarbonize their supply chains? And what value does this bring beyond compliance? Proud that EY supported the IFC - International Finance Corporation and Voltalia in working on scope 3 for the renewable energy sector. This implies having a close look at the supply chain of renewable energy and on the perspectives for decarbonizing manufacturing processes for solar, as an example. A very interesting project that paves the way for other similar analysis in the sector. #ey #climate #renewables

The #energysector sector saw record #sustainable bond issuance in 2023 as #renewableenergy energy issuance rose 85% from 2022 -- the only corporate sector with a year-over-year increase. We expect another year of record issuance in 2024 given that renewable energy-capacity additions have set a new record for 22 years in row, while at COP28, 198 governments agreed to a goal of tripling renewable capacity by 2030. As the world aims to reduce carbon emissions and transition to more sustainable energy sources, the oil and gas industry is also looking to go green. By 2050, the industry is committed to significantly reducing its carbon footprint and embracing renewable energy sources. A report by EY anticipates that returns from a conventional energy sources will decline post 2030 and reach a low by 2050 as carbon costs increases. An indirect indication that the future is green energy. The transition to a greener energy future is not only necessary for the planet but also presents new business opportunities for the oil and gas industry. By embracing sustainability and innovation, these companies can remain competitive in a rapidly changing global energy landscape. #oilandgas #sustainability #greenenergy #2050goals #renewableenergy #carbonemissions #innovation

Many organisations believe the transition to renewable energy is overwhelming and cost prohibitive, but have they examined the whole picture? That's the question being explored in this clip during #PwCintheCaribbean's #ESG week where Kevin Cambridge, CPA, CA and Carolyn Bell-Wisdom of PwC along with Dale Ramlakhan, Country Manager, HDF Energy & Chairman of the Decarbonization Taskforce, Energy Chamber TT, discuss their perspectives on the cost of #renewableenergy.
