Champion of the Restaurant Revolution // Because everyone in the restaurant industry deserves to have a great life // 18 years FOH + Professional Certified Coach + Islay Scotch fan #RestaurantRevolution
The lesson I learned from not really loving season 3 of The Bear the way I loved seasons 1 and 2: Halfway through episode 8 of the latest season of The Bear ("Ice Chips" for those who need a spoiler-free reminder), my husband said, "I thought I signed up for a show about a restaurant." And I can't really fault him for that. This season really seems like it's focused SO much more on the personalities and lives of the people working at The Bear than it is on the operation of the restaurant itself But that reminded me - Our people have lives outside of work They have past experiences and current stresses and family drama and financial question marks, and they bring all of that into work with them And if we don't really create relationships with them, we don't know what their particular brand of outside world is showing up with them And not only does that mean we can't support them with it It means we don't know what's simmering under the surface for the people who quite literally bring in every dollar of our revenue So we don't know what's *actually* running our restaurant So get to know your people. Get to know what they're up to and what's troubling them. And when at all possible, support them with it Because if they can leave as much of their outside world at the door of the restaurant, then it's your leadership and your training and your requests that are running the floor And not their stuff #RestaurantRevolution #Restaurateur #restaurants #RestaurantIndustry #restaurantmanagement #RestaurantManagers

Today we talk about the issue of the old 'dine and dash,' exploring its ethical ramifications, psychological impacts on restaurant staff, and different ways establishments can protect themselves from such theft. Larry and I rarely agree, but we both think anyone who dines and dashes is less than human. The episode also touches on broader themes of honesty, empathy, and societal norms. We also learn that Larry thinks that driving 100mph on a freeway in front of a school should not be a crime. 00:00 Introduction and Summer Chat 00:46 San Francisco vs. Nashville 01:30 Podcast Banter and Listener Engagement 02:41 The Rise of Dine and Dash 04:05 Personal Experiences and Opinions on Dine and Dash 06:34 Moral and Legal Implications 09:32 Preventing Dine and Dash 13:32 Final Thoughts and Parenting Lessons The diabolical rise of ‘dine and dash’: ‘It feels like a betrayal’ smarticlepodcast@gmail.com #dineanddash #littlewhitecrimes #narcissism #cheating #breakingthelaw #diningout #restaurants @Smarticleshow @BDDoble @larryolson threads.net/@smarticleshow @brand.dobes The Smarticle Podcast https://lnkd.in/g99ivCNp
