Ireland has announced a further €36 million in support for the people of Ukraine. This will bring Ireland’s total funding to Ukraine since February 2022 to over €380 million, including approximately €130 million in stabilisation and humanitarian supports. Taoiseach Simon Harris T.D. said: "We have been unequivocal and steadfast in our support for the people of Ukraine and this additional funding continues to demonstrate that commitment." Tánaiste Micheál Martin T.D. said: "Our support for Ukraine is unwavering. Ireland will continue to stand with the people of Ukraine for as long as necessary.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/e3byB54M

In my recent interview on Iran International ایران اینترنشنال , I proudly represented Center for Middle East & Global Order (CMEG) and delved into the €50 billion aid decision by the EU for Ukraine's defense against Russia. #CMEG #EU #UkraineAid Highlighted the pivotal EU leaders' meeting in December addressing Ukraine's EU accession and the €50 billion aid. Notably, Hungary's PM Viktor Orban initially opposed but succumbed to EU pressure due to economic risks. #EUleaders #ViktorOrban #EuropeanUnion Emphasized that Hungary's economic instability and inflation compelled Orban to reconsider his vote, fearing repercussions on international investments. #HungaryEconomy #EUPressure Stressed the significance of the €50 billion aid, constituting a substantial portion added to the €75 billion donated since the war's onset. #UkraineAid #EuropeanSolidarity This four-year plan holds promise for Ukraine's resilience amid ongoing challenges.

US and the EU have directed 0.3% and 0.4% of their GDPs, respectively, to supporting Ukraine (including financial and humanitarian aid). Russia spends approximately 40% of its budget on attacking Ukraine, which is estimated as between 6% and 10% of the country’s GDP. This far greater commitment is helping Russia compensate for the West’s much larger economic potential. A smaller fighter who sacrifices everything can overcome a much bigger opponent who does not fight so hard. It would be a mistake to think that Ukrainians can continue holding the front for as long as the West needs in order to decide its approach. It would be a mistake to take comfort from the insight that Russia’s economic sacrifices are not sustainable in the long term.

In five years, the number of women and girls in conflict areas rose by 50%, reaching 614 million in 2022. They are crucial in preventing and responding to conflicts, yet they lack flexible and sustained funding. At the global level, the Women's Peace & Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) and country financing mechanisms under United Nations OCHA support local women-led organizations, which are vital for sustainable peace. ➡️ Read Bjorg Sandkjaer's Q&A: https://lnkd.in/dfUMfuiJ #WomenPeaceSecurity #HumanitarianAction Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Ahead of #WorldHumanitarianDay, Plan International Ukraine joins over 60 other humanitarian organizations working in Ukraine to pay tribute to the humanitarian workers and volunteers who have lost their lives while providing life-saving emergency assistance to civilians. It is also an opportunity to restate our joint commitment to helping those in need. The UN estimates that nearly 15 million people, almost 40% of the population, are in in need of humanitarian assistance, including nearly 3 million children, 3.4 million older people, and 3.6 million internally displaced people. Plan International East and Central Europe Response Director Sven Coppens said: "Plan International Ukraine is committed to continuing working with its local partners to address and reverse the dire consequences of the war by promoting an age and gender approach to the humanitarian response and to identify both-long term and localised solutions. We must continue working together to overcome the growing unmet and complex needs in Ukraine." Does arming Israel while abandoning Palestinians align with European values? In my latest op-ed for The European Correspondent, I argue that it does not. The situation in Gaza is more dire than ever, with thousands killed and injured, half a million starved, and millions displaced. Europe's withdrawal of support for the UNRWA, along with continued arms provision to Israel, prompts critical questions about the values the EU claims to uphold. The obvious hypocrisy has sparked continent-wide protests and calls for change among Europeans, including civil servants' calls for an arms embargo and an end to diplomatic support for Israel. This op-ed discusses the pressing issues surrounding the EU's recent actions and the European principles of human dignity, equality, and humanitarian aid. There is an urgent need for a return to genuine European principles. Read the piece in full, including more details and sources, in yesterday's newsletter: https://lnkd.in/d8N5y3GK

Today’s Autumn Statement confirms the UK’s ongoing £3 billion support for Ukraine. At RRT, we know this commitment is crucial, however with public awareness being equally essential. Our recent polling shows 57% of Brits support aid to Ukraine, yet 54% feel “news fatigue” and dwindling interest in the crisis. The humanitarian needs are staggering, and it’s vital we keep the public engaged. #rrtcares #ukraine #budget

Dignitas Ukraine helped lead the charge in advocating for crucial resolutions aimed at strengthening Ukraine's resilience and advancement in the face of adversity. We've championed the passage of four pivotal resolutions: H.R.4175/S.2003: Utilizing frozen Russian state assets in the United States to aid in the reconstruction of Ukraine. We're rallying our global partners to tap into the over $300B+ of Russian central bank reserves frozen by allies to provide essential support to Ukraine. The Ukraine Victory Resolution (H.Res.332/S.Res.172) marks a significant milestone in clarifying the U.S. objective: to assist Ukraine in securing its internationally recognized 1991 borders and emerge victorious. H.Res.149/S.Res.158 addresses the alarming issue of Russia's forced transfer of Ukrainian children, condemning this heinous crime against humanity and demanding justice from Congress. H.Res.154/S.Res.72 underscores our commitment to holding Russia accountable and ensuring that justice prevails for the Ukrainian people, while also focusing on rebuilding economic prosperity for Ukraine. Recognizing Ukraine's immense economic and human potential, Dignitas Ukraine is devoted to empowering Ukrainians through the provision of essential humanitarian aid, cutting-edge technological advancements, targeted training initiatives, and expert guidance. Our aim is to unlock Ukraine's full potential and drive positive change on a global scale. Join us in our mission to empower Ukraine, as we tirelessly strive to realize a future where the Ukrainian people thrive and make meaningful contributions to the growth of a free and democratic world. Together, let's stand in solidarity with Ukraine, forging a path towards a brighter tomorrow. #DignitasUkraine #SupportUkraine #SupportDignitas #GivingCampaign #supportukraine #dignitaukraine #dignitasfund https://lnkd.in/disGE-5J
