For Alicia Omar, a Talent Acquisition summer student with our HR team and fourth-year Business student at the University of New Brunswick, her co-op term with Irving Oil has been full of development opportunities, providing new and exciting experiences to hone her skills. “There can be so much learning done outside the classroom, especially when you have supportive mentors,” she says. This summer, Alicia has been working directly with a mentor who has helped her understand new perspectives and to feel empowered to share her ideas. Alicia, along with many of our students, recently participated in a hackathon – an event where students work together to streamline parts of our business. Presenting on a range of topics, Alicia and her team spoke on digitizing our supply chain using data-driven decision-making. “One thing I will take away from this experience is improving my communications skills,” says Alicia. “I’ve gained the confidence to speak up in group projects and share my thoughts and opinions.” Thank you to our employee resource group, All-In, for providing learning opportunities for our students and to all our teams who continue to mentor and work with inspiring minds, every day.
Enjoy your final year!
