Kids + Elders = Community Magic ✨ Goodbye old-style care homes, hello German center merging the young and old. No generation gaps! Laughter echoes, wisdom spreads. Here, toddlers and seniors coexist, fostering love and growth. It's not a place where you "drop off" loved ones, but a space for thriving multi-generational connections. ❤️ State funding means seniors participate for free. That's community value! Open to all - young families, elders, refugees. A haven where everyone feels seen, appreciated, vital. The way society should be. The perks? Infinite. Kids learn life wisdom while elders revitalize their purpose. An exchange of joy and knowledge across ages. 💞 Such a successful concept, Germany's setting up more nationwide. A testament to the societal power of intergenerational interaction. Celebrate spaces that unite, not divide. Where community tightens its weave through generational care and connection. We can learn a lot from this. Unlock the magic! 💕

🌲 Exploring the Great Outdoors: National Parks and Fourth Graders 🌲 📣 Join the conversation! 📣 👉 Have you ever wondered why our national parks prioritize younger children? Let's dive into the discussion sparked by Mr. Extreme vapes' thought-provoking comment. 👈 🌟 National parks offer an incredible opportunity for families to connect with nature and create lifelong memories. The "Every Kid Outdoors" program allows fourth graders and their families to explore these breathtaking landscapes for free. 🏞️ 🤔 Mr. Extreme vapes raised a valid concern: Why are younger children encouraged to visit national parks while adults seemingly take a backseat? Let's address this together. 🤝 👥 The response from the community was unanimous: The program aims to foster a love for nature and conservation in young minds. By engaging children at an early age, we can inspire future generations to protect and preserve our natural heritage. 🌿 🔍 However, it's important to clarify that the program does not encourage unsupervised exploration. Safety is paramount, and families are encouraged to embark on these adventures together. 🚶♀️🚶♂️ 🌍 Let's celebrate the "Every Kid Outdoors" initiative and the incredible impact it has on our children's lives. Together, we can ensure that the wonders of our national parks are cherished by generations to come. 🙌 #NationalParks #EveryKidOutdoors #FamilyAdventures #NatureConservation #ChildhoodMemories #ExploringTheOutdoors #LoveForNature #FutureGenerations #PreservingHeritage #CommunityDiscussion

On Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 3 p.m. ET/noon PT, the Safe Routes Partnership presented "Creative, Accessible Federal Funding to Advance Safe, Active Travel for Kids and Communities." The webinar focused on the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program, a federal funding opportunity for communities to develop plans and implement strategies that reduce roadway injuries and fatalities. The SS4A funding is versatile, covering not only the development of comprehensive safety action plans, but also supporting supplementing those plans with data analysis and strategy selection focused on specific populations or modes. For example, communities can develop Safe Routes to School plans as supplements to comprehensive safety action plans. SS4A funding is also available for demonstration projects - focused on piloting infrastructure that improves safety, as well as engagement, encouragement, and education activities aimed at enhancing traffic safety - strategies that are familiar to the Safe Routes to School community. Notably, the application process for this funding has been streamlined, and all eligible applicants for planning and demonstration grants receiving funds over the past two years. During the webinar, experts highlighted innovative ways to utilize SS4A funds, sharing ideas for communities on how to access this funding without a cash match (using in-kind instead). Attendees were guided through the application steps, making the process accessible to a broad range of participants. The emphasis was on the critical role Safe Routes to School plays in broader community efforts to reduce roadway injuries and fatalities. The webinar underscored the importance of safe, equitable youth mobility being a key component of these safety action plans. The event is a valuable resource for communities looking to access federal funds to improve traffic safety and ensure safe routes for students! Watch the webinar now: https://lnkd.in/eDszHFQK

Day 3 of showcasing our PALA Winter 2023 Cohort Group Projects! Today we are highlighting Group 3 ⬇️ There is a health crisis in East San Jose that needs to be addressed! The Reid-Hillview Airport is causing a health crisis for the entire community but some of our most vulnerable community members are the most affected: History will tell us that it has always been the impoverished or low income communities made up of people of color who have always been placed in the most visibly, negatively impacted environments. The elderly who may have health impairments are amongst the most vulnerable. According to the American Lung Association, lung muscles weaken with age; pollution can decrease lung function and therefore increase the mortality rate in the elderly. Children are also part of the vulnerable groups that are affected by the lead being spread by the airport. Air pollution can cause behavior problems, lower IQ, hearing loss, learning disabilities, asthma and reduced lung function. The pollution the airport is producing is only increasing the already polluted air in those zones due to high traffic from the 101 highway. The map shows the dark shade of poor air quality in East San Jose. Ending the Reid-Hillview Airport would allow the community to come together and advocate for a better use of that space. A park with trees would help reduce the smog in the area and improve the quality of life of that area.
