Excited to share how my #phdresearch aligns with the #EUGreenDeal goals! I'm investigating the impact of adopting more #sustainable and #diverse #diet for dairy cows on #milk quality throughout the entire #lactation period. Introducing a botanically diverse pasture diet like multispecies sward aims to reduce chemical nitrogen usage, supporting the EU Green Deal's 2030 targets to cut fertilizer use by 20% and reduce nutrient losses by 50%, while also enhancing #biodiversity in agriculture. However, how does that translate to milk, and #dairyproducts quality? If you are interested to know more, please listen to the podcast 'Growing better milk' https://lnkd.in/eqAUNyvM Thanks to VistaMilk SFI Research Centre, Laura Gómez Gómez-Mascaraque, Alan Kelly, brendan horan, Tom O'Callaghan, Gaetan Drouin, John Tobin and Jonathan Magan for their invaluable support in making this research possible. #sustainabledairy #podcastinsights
*Our latest podcast is live* This podcast features Renata Kostovska and highlights her research on using multi sward species for grazing dairy cows. Renata said: “What we’re seeing in our studies shows that the mix of indigenous Irish plants in our multi-species pastures can help us combat climate change and improve our environmental performance."
