Density done well, gentle density or whatever the preferred term is. We have good designs for urban housing at our fingertips. This could be a period of great urban renaissance if we use the best of our knowledge to make walkable neighbourhoods. #urbanism
These townhouses were built in Düsseldorf in 2016–2018 in a residential style from the early 1920s. Are they a pastiche or just beautiful homes? I think they’re quite lovely, and the detailing and landscaping of the boundary treatments create a wonderful street too. Rubensstrasse 11–19 was designed by Sebastian Treese Architects, based in Germany, and thanks to CREATE STREETS for originally posting about this project over on X.

In a rapidly evolving urban landscape, the importance of community-centric housing design cannot be overstated. As architects, we are responsible for creating spaces that foster inclusivity and a sense of belonging. Designing housing beyond individual units to incorporate shared spaces, such as gardens, courtyards, and communal areas, is critical to nurturing vibrant communities. These spaces become the heart of urban neighbourhoods, where residents can interact, collaborate, and build lasting relationships. By integrating thoughtful planning, pedestrian-friendly zones, and versatile recreational areas, we can transform housing developments into dynamic ecosystems that prioritise human experiences, where people can feel connected and engaged. This approach is essential for creating thriving urban communities — where everyone feels a sense of belonging. #UrbanDesign #CommunityLiving #HousingDevelopment #Architecture #UrbanPlanning #GPMArchitects

The extraordinary features of a property often catch our attention from the start; magnificent architecture, mesmerizing vistas, and splendid gardens all epitomize what can give a home its exceptional allure. However, there are times when it's the unique additions that truly make a property stand out – the spaces and places that offer something a little out of the ordinary, and perhaps even a pleasant surprise. As a real estate agent, it's these types of homes that present a hidden gem as part of the package or a one-of-a-kind amenity that can spark intriguing conversations with potential buyers. And when that additional bonus serves a recreational purpose, it can truly elevate a property above the rest – and may even attract some media attention as well.

I snapped this photo of one of the incredible buildings here in Lyon, France, and I couldn’t help but admire the stunning architecture. Lyon has an estimated 120,000 buildings, many of which are hundreds of years old, dating back to the Renaissance period. The designs? Simply amazing—ornate facades, detailed balconies, and structures built to stand the test of time. These buildings are a true testament to craftsmanship and solid foundations. As multifamily investors, we can learn a lot from these enduring structures. Just like these buildings, our investments should be designed to withstand the test of time. I always prioritize properties that have strong foundations—both literally and metaphorically! If you’re thinking about multifamily investing but aren’t sure where to start, remember: every great building started with that first stone. Let’s lay that foundation together. #BuildingWealth #MultifamilyInvesting #PassiveIncome #StrongFoundations

Urban Staircases. Unseen narratives in cityscapes. 👇 Beneath the towering structures and bustling streets, urban staircases silently carve out a poetic narrative of city life. Beyond their utilitarian purpose, these ascending and descending pathways serve as witnesses to history, connecting generations and shaping the cultural identity of the spaces they inhabit. From ancient civilizations to modern metropolises, staircases have been integral to urban development, leaving an indelible mark on city landscapes. Today, they continue to be more than physical connectors, evolving into dynamic stages for social interactions, artistic expressions, and cultural celebrations. 👉 Aesthetically, well-designed staircases contribute to the visual poetry of cities. The arrangement of steps, the play of light, and the unique architecture add a distinctive charm to urban landscapes. These structures, often overlooked, emerge as independent works of art, enhancing the overall aesthetics of their surroundings. Beyond their physical form, staircases embody the collective memory of cities. The shapes and patterns etched into their structure reflect the city's history, mirroring the footsteps of those who ascended before us. In this way, staircases become poetic repositories, connecting the past with the present and weaving an unseen narrative that enriches our urban experience.
