You are welcome to download the full article using this link: https://lnkd.in/dEpHGrR4 Yael Parag In short: Reducing private car ownership, shifting mobility patterns, and encouraging the use of electric vehicles can help alleviate congestion, repurpose parking spaces for other urban uses and reduce emissions. This study explores the public perception and acceptance of a new concept: shared car services in multi-unit residential buildings, offering residents tailored solutions while retaining the convenience of private car ownership. The study provides insights about the motivations and barriers to adoption among urban dwellers in Israel, using the methodology of focus groups to collect data and the Product Service System approach for analysis. This concept remains unexplored in current literature. The findings from three focus groups comprising Israeli dwellers in multi-unit buildings in densely populated areas suggest that the acceptance and adoption of such services are influenced by the availability of on- and off-street parking, cost of private car ownership, service quality, and trust among users and toward the service provider. To remove adoption barriers and promote low-carbon sustainable mobility, policy implications include increasing the cost of car ownership and parking fees while reducing parking availability. Implementing more restrictive parking policies should be coupled with policy incentives that widen the availability of shared vehicle services. The insights gained could inform the integration of shared vehicles in multi-unit buildings and promote the development of supportive regulatory frameworks. Additionally, the study investigates whether the adoption of shared electric vehicle services in residential buildings encourages the installation of rooftop photovoltaic technology. However, the study reveals no significant association between adopting shared electric vehicle services and rooftop solar panel installation among participants.

Regenerating electric powered cycle for metro station by using graphene battery through kinetic energy. #HEMANTH-THOUGHTS The idea of using regenerative technology to power an electric bicycle through kinetic energy and a graphene battery is intriguing and has potential, though it poses several engineering and practical challenges. Here are a few key points to consider: 1. Kinetic Energy Harvesting: - Regenerative Braking:This is already used in electric vehicles and some advanced bicycles. When the rider applies the brakes, the kinetic energy that would normally be lost as heat is captured and converted back into electrical energy. - Pedal Power:Energy can also be captured from pedaling, especially when going downhill or when the rider is applying strong pedal force. 2. Graphene Batteries: - Energy Density:Graphene batteries are reputed for their high energy density, meaning they can store more energy in a smaller size compared to traditional batteries like lithium-ion. - Fast Charging:They also have the potential to charge much quicker than other types of batteries, which is beneficial for a bike that might have limited downtime between uses. - Long Lifespan:Graphene batteries generally have longer life cycles, reducing the need for frequent replacements. 3. Integration: - System Design:You'd need an integrated system that includes regenerative braking mechanisms, electrical components to manage energy conversion, and a battery management system (BMS) that is compatible with graphene batteries. - Weight and Space:Ensure that the added weight and bulk from regenerative systems and a graphene battery do not inhibit the bike’s performance or usability. 4. Efficiency: - Energy Capture vs. Consumption:** The amount of energy you can capture through regenerative braking and pedal power needs to be substantial enough to make a significant impact. This is often the limiting factor, as the energy recovered might be too little compared to the energy consumed during riding. 5. Feasibility: - Cost:Graphene batteries, while promising, are currently more expensive than conventional batteries. This could raise the production cost of the bike. - Availability:Graphene battery technology is still maturing and may not be as widely available or tested as traditional systems. 6. Applications: -Urban Commuting:If designed efficiently, this kind of bike could be ideal for urban commuting, especially for use in bike-sharing programs associated with metro stations. - Last-Mile Connectivity:Such bikes can serve as a last-mile transportation solution, alleviating the need for additional transit options. Conclusion: While technically possible, developing an efficient, practical, and cost-effective regenerative electric bicycle using graphene batteries involves overcoming several significant hurdles. Advances in both regenerative technology and graphene battery production will be crucial to bringing such a concept to fruition on a large scale.

🚗The Future of E-Mobility: It's All About the Infrastructure🚗 As the global shift toward electric vehicles (EVs) accelerates, many people believe the key barriers to mass adoption are the price of cars or the cost of electricity. While these are important, in my opinion, the real challenge lies in the availability of charging infrastructure. Without widespread and reliable charging points that offer fast and stress-free charging at any parking spot, the price of EVs and electricity becomes secondary. For EVs to truly become a mainstream option, we need to be able to charge quickly and conveniently—whether we're at home, at work, or on the go. Charging infrastructure must evolve to meet the growing demand, otherwise the electric revolution will stall. The current state of charging infrastructure growth across different countries paints an interesting picture: - Germany has been ramping up efforts, with over 80,000 public charging points as of 2024, and the government is pushing for 1 million charging points by 2030. - The Netherlands has emerged as a leader in this area, with over 120,000 public and semi-public charging points, reflecting the country’s commitment to a green future. - France and the UK are also investing heavily, each with tens of thousands of public chargers and plans to further expand this network. Now, when we compare this to Poland, it’s clear we have a long way to go. As of mid-2024, Poland has just over 5,000 public charging points. While this represents progress, it falls far behind other European nations. We must accelerate efforts to develop a robust charging network to support the anticipated growth of EVs on our roads. Another concerning aspect is the lack of commitment by some of the world’s major car manufacturers. Many are forecasting significant sales growth in e-mobility, but it seems they’re not fully invested in the infrastructure needed to support it. Speaking from personal experience, as the owner of a BMW (BMW Polska) and two Fiat (Stellantis) electric cars, I’ve noticed that many car showrooms don’t even have charging stations on-site! This sends mixed messages to customers about the seriousness of the industry’s shift to electric. To truly unlock the potential of EVs, we need to invest heavily in charging infrastructure across every country. Whether it’s at commercial parking lots, residential buildings, or public spaces, the ability to charge your vehicle conveniently will be the deciding factor in the growth of e-mobility. Pioneering Green Mobility: The Journey Behind My Electric Scooter Project As the world shifts toward sustainable energy solutions, the transportation sector is undergoing a significant transformation. Recognizing the urgent need for eco-friendly alternatives to traditional vehicles, I took on the challenge of designing and building an electric scooter that could provide a practical and sustainable mode of transportation. The Vision: Creating a Sustainable Urban Transport Solution Urban environments are often plagued by traffic congestion and pollution, making it clear that there is a need for efficient, eco-friendly transportation options. With this in mind, I set out to develop an electric scooter that would not only reduce carbon emissions but also offer a convenient and cost-effective alternative for urban commuters. Designing the Future: Crafting the Electric Scooter The journey began with a vision to create a sleek, efficient, and reliable electric scooter. I focused on selecting the right components, starting with a powerful and efficient 24V/48V DC motor, which would provide the necessary torque and speed for urban travel. Battery selection was crucial; I chose a high-capacity, rechargeable battery that offered a long range on a single charge, ensuring the scooter could meet the demands of daily commutes. The design process emphasized both form and function. The scooter needed to be lightweight and easy to maneuver while also being durable enough to withstand the rigors of everyday use. I incorporated regenerative braking technology to improve energy efficiency and extend the scooter’s range, making it even more sustainable. Building and Testing: Bringing the Electric Scooter to Life Once the design was finalized, I moved on to the construction phase. Precision engineering and attention to detail were key as I assembled the scooter, ensuring each component was optimized for performance and durability. Testing the scooter was an exciting phase, as I evaluated its performance across various conditions. The electric scooter exceeded expectations, delivering smooth, quiet rides with impressive acceleration and range. It was not only practical but also enjoyable to ride, making it an ideal solution for urban mobility. Impact: Driving the Shift Toward Sustainable Transportation The electric scooter project is more than just a technical achievement; it’s a contribution to the global movement toward sustainable transportation. By offering a zero-emission alternative to traditional scooters, this project has the potential to reduce the carbon footprint of urban commuting and inspire further innovation in green mobility.
