The non-perfusion molecular imaging space in nuclear cardiology is getting interesting with novel and not so novel imaging probes with PET/CT and SPECT/CT imaging… and the integrated PET/MRI scanners further open the door for more robust evaluation of the heart ❤️ in one go. At the recently concluded 3rd WCCICC congress, many such advances were presented with several engaging sessions and wonderful speakers. The WCCICC TV captured some of the key messages from this congress quite well. Looking forward to further developments in this space as heart failure patients continue to increase in number globally, and with novel treatments for cardiac amyloidosis and other heart failure etiologies, accurate non-invasive assessment of these conditions is crucial for early diagnosis as well as assess response to treatment. https://lnkd.in/edqtjTbX #nuclearmedicine #nuclearcardiology #emoryradiology #WCCICC2023

Just wrapped up one more inspiring event this autumn: the #ICPOForum for #Theranostics. It's an event I wholeheartedly recommend. One standout highlight that I couldn't afford to miss was the session on the synergy of #AI and #NuclearMedicine. My hats off to Antonis Kalemis and Kuangyu Shi their enlightening insights into #AI's applications in patient diagnostics, predictions, and workflow optimization. The positive impact of #AI on lowering radiation doses for patients, reducing costs, and enhancing treatment planning has already been remarkable. Chris Behrenbruch left us with great anticipation as he shed light on #AI-driven projects in clinical development. If you're keen on data-driven innovations in nuclear medicine, don't overlook the pioneering initiative, #ENHANCE. And let's not forget the remarkable session on #FAP in #NuclearMedicine, featuring the expertise of Peter Choyke, Tadashi Watabe, Univ.-Prof. Dr. Frederik Giesel, MD, MBA, and Martin Gotthardt. Last month, professionals and advocates from all of the country gathered at Capitol Hill, we educated and advocated on the impact of three important topics. The first topic was THE FIND ACT. The FIND ACT is now more important than ever as the field of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging has entered an era of growth furthering the sector of precision medicine. However, due to CMS bundling our specialized isotopes as a "supply", many organizations cannot absorb the financial loss. This has limited access to this care. The organizations that do perform the more specialized imaging, either absorb the cost or switch to the latest radiopharmaceutical coming out for commercial use because of pass through. <---- this in particular is bothersome as we should switch as the radiopharmaceuticals IMPROVE patient outcomes not because CMS establishes a limited reimbursement window. An article published in The Journal of Nuclear Medicine - JNM has highlighted the utility of hybrid 18F-FET PET/MRI-perfusion imaging for routine clinical care of patients with challenging malignant brain tumours. "18F-FET PET/MRI positively impacted the routine clinical care of challenging malignant brain tumour cases at a U.S. institution. The results add to a growing body of literature that 18F-FET PET complements MRI, even rescuing MRI when it fails."
