I had the privilege of attending the 4th Africa Digital Health Summit at Eko Hotels & Suites, where I connected with fellow digital health experts from across Africa and listened to a keynote address by Dr. Tunji Alausa , the State Minister of Health. I also had the opportunity to share my thoughts on the adoption of digital health records in tertiary hospitals, highlighting the unique challenges we face and proposing solutions. To address the limitations of digital healthcare in Africa, we must: 1. Invest in robust infrastructure 2. Build capacity through training and development 3. Establish supportive policy regulations 4. Adopt a patient-centered approach Encouragingly, the federal government of Nigeria is taking proactive steps to leverage digital healthcare for efficient care. As we embark on this digital transformation journey in Africa's healthcare systems, it's essential that we upskill healthcare professionals and those interested in building in the medical domain. The future of digital healthcare in Africa is promising, and I'm excited to be a part of it

While Arab Health Exhibition in Dubai was happening, the meetings for the Portuguese Health Care Mission/Delegation, were running in parallel. Organised by the aicep Portugal Global | United Arab Emirates, and under a scheduled program contemplating various meetings and official visits, the Portuguese representatives had the fantastic opportunity to show and elaborate on their offers and latest developments, seeking not only commercial opportunities, but also investment sources for their research and innovations. One of those meetings, happened with M42 Health team, led by Dr. Pedro Moreira de Lemos. Our Country Lead, Moh’ M. Alhaji, PhD, will join colleagues at the Africa Digital Health Summit in Lagos this Thursday and Friday (June 27-28). They will discuss findings from our exploratory study on optimizing the hybrid e-pharmacy platform for family planning in Lagos. A snippet from our survey revealed that while awareness of family planning among the underserved population was high (87%), awareness of accessibility via digital health platforms is low (16%). Barriers include lack of awareness, trust issues, privacy concerns, and cost perceptions. Our ongoing lab-in-the-field study aims to address these barriers and improve access for underserved populations through low-tech equity model prototypes.
