Fascinating looking at the next generation of Uncrewed Underwater Vehicles (UUVs) being developed by the Australian and US governments for defence purposes. Northrop Gruman's Manta Ray prototype (https://lnkd.in/e87tUNFE), in particular, seems to borrow from biological design and is intended to be energy-saving, with the ability to anchor to the seafloor and hibernate in a low-power state. Interesting to see how these sorts of designs will influence future marine research infrastructure.
