We’re building a movement to decarbonize the wine sector. We’re proud of the progress we’ve made. We also know there’s so much more to do. The wine sector can get there, but it will require wine companies to put climate action at the forefront of their business and winemaking practices. Join our movement: www.iwcawine.org

To bolster the burgeoning Swedish wine industry, it is imperative to channel concerted efforts toward creating an enabling environment. Government intervention plays a pivotal role, necessitating a reevaluation of stringent regulations that hinder direct sales to consumers and restrict the industry's global expansion. Concurrently, initiatives should be implemented to elevate educational programs in winemaking and viticulture at Swedish universities, ensuring a sustainable talent pool of proficient professionals. #sweden #wine #climatechange #sustainability #sustainableagriculture To learn more, read Deniz Saygi's latest article, available here: https://lnkd.in/d2HhhM6h

Time for British Pinot Noir? The UK wine sector needs to prepare for climate change, and the risks and opportunities were discussed at the recent WineGB 'Conference for growth 2024'. The Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change & the Environment presented a research paper on this topic, revealing that in 20 years, the average climate in the UK will be the same as Burgundy in 2005. This poses questions for the industry, such as how to keep grape varieties relevant to the changing climate and how to produce and market an ever-changing product. Interesting times ahead for the UK wine industry! #winegb #bevica Link to the research paper: https://lnkd.in/e_unXsdQ

Voices in the Canadian wine industry speak to how BC can, and will, emerge stronger from the setbacks of crop damage. Let’s be clear - this will be a challenging time forward. Yet it will be exciting as it shapes the next years and decades for BC’s wine industry, the varietals that we showcase, the agriculture practices that we innovate with or go back to, the tourism industry that educates. Also, this is a time to show how we build better together. Today, parts of Chablis are under water. They have survived, and thrived through generations of winemakers. Understanding and working with the realities of changing climate is not only our superpower, it is a necessity now.
