Are the Chinese athletes playing fair? I am a former student athlete. I played 2 sports for my NY based University : Rugby and Fencing. I was always taught that showboating is for morons. Conserve your breath, save your strength for the critical moments. But those rules don't apply when you have government funded research and availability of steroids, does it? I like how this propaganda video shows the Chinese team's win as "strategy". Let me ask you, when was the last time you saw marathon runners sprinting from the time they started??? If they did so, do you think it was normal? they could keep the pace till the end??? There is always something questionable about how China competes. Always! What do you think happened here?? Do you think it was as fair, as this propaganda video makes it out to be? was this strategy or ..... Was this the magic of Coach Ma's special juice from the Chinese water sports Olympic team?

21 years ago I embarked on a journey and started competing nationally and internationally in a niche sport called racketlon. now at 42, I had my best ever achievement today winning the British Championships over 40s category in both doubles and singles. I won a disgusting quarter final coming from the jaws of defeat. In the final my opponent had beaten me 4/4, 5th time I got the win. Ecstatic after all these years to now be British Champion. 7,000 days later. How many training sessions I wonder? Estimated at 10,000 hours building up to this moment.  many learnings here - 1. I got coaching properly only in last couple of years! 2. I lost weight 3. I got a personal trainer 4. I became vegan and became the healthiest person I know (almost) 5. I drink less alcohol 6. I have goals 7. I have discipline 8. I enjoy the events win or lose. I’ve made hundreds of friends for life. 9. The 1% improvements count 10. I developed margin. Not every day is a great day. The bad days still need to be wins. I have to be that good so my worst is still better than my opponents best.   there are loads more, I could write a book.

Receiving the right information and the right training is crucial to our achievements. It’s one of the direct influences to our goals being just dreams or our goals becoming our reality. As a teenager I had this really simple idea: “Go straight to the source”. I was invited to go to Spain and train under the #1 British doubles player Dan Kiernan & Nathan Rooney at SotoTennis Academy I worked with Russian Perrenial Grand Slam contender Olga Morozova in London. "Punching above our weight" - Pardon the pun following Kelly Harrington's boxing Gold medal, but that should be #Ireland's official motto, because it's true. What an achievement for a small country of just 5m people to not only win 4 gold medals so far at the Olympics, but also to have the highest productivity, the highest standards of education, of food production, and the nicest people in the world. I am inspired by this country's (and my team's) human resources and resourcefulness, and this ability to do it with a smile. In many ways, the Herdwatch journey would not have been the same anywhere else, or maybe even possible, because our business motto could also be "Punching above our weight" - We have always tried to do the right thing with limited resources, for farmers and ranchers, for our amazing team, for our communities, and we have built a fast-growing international business, a beacon of Irish #Agtech supported by fantastic Irish structures such as FRS Co-Op, Local Enterprise Offices in #Tipperary, AgTech Ireland, Renatus and of course Enterprise Ireland who have stood by us for many years in our international journey. Finally, none of this would have happened without Ireland's membership of the European Union - for all its failings (and it has many), the EU has brought people closer and given me and millions of others opportunities that did not exist just 30 or 40 years ago. (For those who don't know, I came to Ireland on an EU-funded ERASMUS student programme for a year, and never went back...and wasn't thrown out!) If it wasn't clear already, I am extremely grateful to have been "adopted" by the people of Ireland and #Roscrea. I will always be a proud French man, and love both nations (I have dual nationality), but Ireland has given me so much, including my wonderful wife Antoinette and daughter Amélie, and I will continue to do my best to give back. I think that table should be used officially alongside the other one - China are pretty much last on that one and the USA are 29th! "Olympics Glory in Proportion" as the website says 👇
