The Rotterdam-based company Wattlab develops Solar Hatches, a product that generates solar energy on inland vessels. In co-operation with local shipping company Vertom Group, Wattlab has been working on the development of the so-called Solar Flatrack. This modular solar energy system has the same purpose as the Solar Hatch: reduce the emission of CO2 by making use of solar energy. Because of its standardized size and attachement method, the Solar Flatrack can be applied to the majority of bulk transport seagoing vessels. The product can potentially reduce the emission of CO2 up to 100 tonnes per ship per year! Recently, alderman Chantal Zeegers (on the far right on the photo) paid a working visit to Wattlab where founder Bo Salet (second from the right on the photo) elaborated on recent progress and opportunities for the Solar Flatrack innovation within the city and port of Rotterdam. A feasibility study on the commercial applicability of the Solar Flatrack was made possible by the Smart Energy Systems program of the City of Rotterdam. #EarthDay is a reminder of the importance of taking action to build a sustainable future - now in its 54th year of raising awareness and inspiring change through events, toolkits, and initiatives. The team behind Earthday.org is working with 150,000 partners in over 192 countries to drive positive action for our planet. Through our battery storage, onshore wind and solar PV projects, like Pueblo Seco in Chile, Nala is helping to reduce carbon emissions and meet the growing demand for clean power. Our 150MW+ of operational and/or in-construction projects in Chile will provide electricity for c.7.982 homes per year and offset 48,100 tonnes of carbon emissions. The Chilean portfolio forms part of the wider ~4GW global Nala portfolio and pipeline. Always Advancing Green Energy. #sustainability #renewableenergy

We are making significant strides in sustainable energy. 🌱 🌟 Acquisition of solar parks in Spain: We have recently acquired two additional solar parks in Andalucia, Spain. The Lirios solar park, with impressive 109 megawatts (MW) and an annual production of 220 gigawatt hours (GWh), is already under construction and will be connected to the grid by Q4/2025. Meanwhile, the La Florida Hive solar park, with a capacity of 30 MW and an annual output of 60 GWh, will be built southeast of Seville in Dos Hermanas, set to join the grid in the second half of 2025. 🚀 Surpassing Expansion Goals: In a remarkable achievement, we have exceeded our planned expansion target for electricity production in 2023 by more than 33 percent! Encavis now reaches a total of 1 terawatt hour of electricity generated annually. 👉 Read more about this exciting development on our website: https://lnkd.in/eCzGJe5p #Encavis #RenewableEnergy #SolarPower #Sustainability #CleanEnergy

A groundbreaking achievement in renewable energy has arrived at the Paris Olympic Village with the launch of the world’s largest 78 kWp floating solar plant. This impressive installation is set to provide sustainable power to the Olympic Village, showcasing a significant advancement in solar technology. Floating solar panels, positioned on bodies of water, offer several advantages over traditional land-based systems, including reduced land use and increased efficiency due to the cooling effect of water. This floating plant will harness the sun’s energy to power the Olympic Village, aligning with the event's commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. The deployment of this floating solar plant not only highlights Paris’s dedication to green energy but also sets a new benchmark for future solar projects globally. It represents a key step toward achieving broader environmental goals and demonstrates the potential of innovative solar solutions in powering large-scale events and urban areas. #FloatingSolar #RenewableEnergy #ParisOlympics #SustainableTech #GreenEnergy #SolarPower

Sun-Ways is a Swiss cleantech company that has developed a removable #solarpv solution that fits in perfectly in space available between railway tracks. European Parliament Member states in #europeanunion have over 150,000 kilometers of railway tracks. Even if, we would use 5,000 kilometers to install a GW of removable solar PV technology, we can exponentially increase an installed #solar PV capacity by another 30 GW in #EU. We can actually make this happen in a year's time. A #terawatt of installed solar PV capacity in European Union by 2030 is possible. All we need is a firm political will and a single voice across member states to make this happen. https://lnkd.in/geGqFPEb /Ayoub #AyoubHameedi #ProjectGE #ProjectHuner #solarpv #solarpower #renewableenergy #sustainability #ClimateAction #GlobalGoals #ParisAgreement #SustainableDevelopmentGoals

Sveaskog, Sweden's state forest owner, has partnered with solar developer Alight to develop 2GW of solar power over the next five years, focusing on regions with significant electricity deficits in central and southern Sweden. The first two projects will cover 150 hectares in the central region and 70 hectares in the south. Sveaskog will co-invest up to 49% in these projects, leveraging its vast land holdings to contribute to the country’s renewable energy expansion. The partnership aims to address Sweden’s increasing demand for renewable electricity, with Sveaskog and Alight emphasizing the importance of sustainable and balanced development. If a small portion of Sveaskog’s land is converted to solar parks, it could more than double Sweden's current solar capacity. https://lnkd.in/e6aZwfh6 #Sweden #EnergyTransition #OdinGlobal
