We are continuing our Women Behind Defender series with Michelle, a former Racing Driver from Michigan, USA. Growing up in the car industry, building her own race car – a ’69 Camaro drag racer, this led to her career in the automotive industry. In 2003, Michelle moved to the UK and started her journey here at JLR. Michelle was involved on working on the vehicle dynamics for the new Defender. Michelle made it her mission to ensure the steering weight on the new Defender wasn’t too heavy to appeal to both men and women. When we set out to create Defender, we set out to create a vehicle that would stand the test of time. It was a challenge for the team to balance low-speed agility, comfort and off-road ability. Michelle said “We have been delighted by the reaction and its success. It’s still my favourite car.” Find out more about Michelle’s exciting journey and her continued success at JLR. https://lnkd.in/g_B4JWT4 #LifeatJLR #WomeninEngineering #CareersatJLR

On March 14, JLR North America was visited by the Robo Rebels, a FIRST Tech Challenge robotics team from Saddle River Day School. The team came to JLR to spend some time with our engineers and learn about the various roles they play in the business. The team also took the opportunity to tour the facilities and see some of the exciting work happening here. As a FIRST Tech Challenge team, the Robo Rebels compete against other schools to complete both autonomous and remote-controlled challenges with a bespoke robot. Each year, the teams receive new challenges and design an all-new robot. The team took some time to demonstrate their robot and share some of their design process. You can cheer on the Robo Rebels March 17th at Hillsborough High School as they take on nearly 50 other teams to compete for the New Jersey state championship and a spot at the international competition to be held in Houston later this year. Good luck Robo Rebels, we are excited to follow your progress and we had a blast meeting with you! #wearejlr #robotcompetition

This week we celebrate Women’s History Month by highlighting professional auto racing driver, Katherine Legge. Katherine Anne Legge (b. July 12, 1980) is a British professional auto racing driver who competes full-time in the IMSA SportsCar Championship, part-time in the IndyCar Series and part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Katherine Legge made history during the inaugural Formula E season in 2014/15, becoming the all-electric race series’ s first female driver. A native of Guildford, England, Legge was the first driver to join the Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY, a support series to Formula E, in conjunction with the 2018/19 season. Legge, whose background includes Formula 3, Formula Renault, a Formula One test, Champ Car, IndyCar, A1GP, DTM, Formula E, and sports car racing, talked about her decision to join Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s team ahead of the inaugural I-PACE eTROPHY season. “In my world, I’m a race car driver and it doesn’t matter if you’re male or female—the car won’t know the difference.”- Katherine Legge Dive into her inspiring story here: https://lnkd.in/gdPcsgcm #wearejlr #internationalwomensmonth #equality #celebratewomen

2wYeah I was excited as well until I got mine and it’s been I the shop8 times in 2 years. Even received a letter from you acknowledging the issues. Then your customer service team offered me a pathetic offer to use at a local dealership to have a scratch repaired when I actually bought extra protection and got told no it’s not covered. I am so severely disappointed with how this whole matter has been handled. I was so excited when I got my defender to just be completely disappointed
