More Jets for NetJets After inking a revised labor agreement with its #pilots last month, NetJets has signed a #deal that could see it spend over $6 billion with options for up to 232 of Bombardier's Challenger 3500s. The unit of Berkshire Hathaway already operates 88 of its predecessor, the Challenger 350. A number of programmatic competitors, including Flexjet, VistaJet, Airshare & NICHOLAS AIR feature the #aircraft. flyExclusive recently said it would replace its large cabin Gulfstream Aerospace #fleet with preowned Challenger 350s. Bombardier also confirmed that NetJets was the unnamed customer who placed a firm order for a dozen of the Challengers back in December. The Challenger 3500 #jet continues to impress with its ultimate combination of refined cabin experience, proven reliability, & top performance. The deal with Bombardier follows similar agreements last year with Textron Aviation & Brazil's Embraer. NetJets' agreement with Textron could see it add 1,500 #aircraft valued at around $30 billion over the next 15 years. The Embraer agreement will see it add as many 250 Praetor 500 midsize jets, valued at around $5 billion. NetJets, Inc., including its aircraft management unit Executive Jet Management, is the largest U.S. #privatejet #charter/ #fractional #flight provider. According to TRAQPak by ARGUS International it racked up 609,515 #flight hours in 2023, a 1.8% gain. The Airbus 321neo is the largest member of the Airbus A320neo Family, with a range of 4,700nm/8,700km powered by new-generation engines (CFM LEAP 1A / PW1100G-JM) and Sharklets. To meet the needs of market segments Airbus offers three versions the standard A321neo, the A321neo LR (Long Range), and the A321neo XLR (Extra Long Range). More than 5,600 Airbus A321neos have been ordered by over 100 customers worldwide with a global footprint of Final Assembly Lines located in Hamburg (Germany), Mobile (USA) and Tianjin (China) and Toulouse (France) to meet the growing market demand for the Airbus A321neo, which now accounts for nearly 65% of Airbus' A320 Family order backlog. Today Airbus, announcing its 2023 full year results, stated the A320 Family programme production is progressing towards the previously announced projection rate of 75 aircraft per month, expected to be achieved in 2026, and its first customer A321XLR entered into the Final Assembly Line in December, with entry-into-service for the aircraft type expected to take place in Q3 2024. The next big thing in BIZAV The odds on an all-new business jet being announced any time soon are high. After a flurry of launches, which Bombardier, Dassault Aviation, & Gulfstream Aerospace seemed to be going all out to trump their rivals’ top offerings in terms of range & cabin size & comfort. The focus changed to #certification & delivery, with the big three manufacturers concentrating on bringing their latest types into service. Speculation around Bombardier doing something to refresh or replace its enduring & successful Challenger family has prompted some analysts to wonder. There are also questions over whether Embraer or Textron might fancy another audacious adventure into a new segment. The large-cabin #Challenger650, which has gone through multiple iterations, has its roots in the 1980s. Its super-midsize Challenger 3500 sibling dates from the early years of this century, although it too has been updated. Embraer’s last clean-sheet launches were the original Legacy 450 & Legacy 500, which morphed into the Praetor 500/ 600. As for the Brazilian manufacturer they might be ready to begin developing a new #aircraft in the next two years. However, there was no elaboration on whether this might be a #businessjet or a commercial programme. Question remains, whether Embraer which broke into the business #aviation market in the early 2000s, has the appetite to risk billions of investment dollars to tussle in a large-cabin segment dominated by others. Textron Aviation, which has more business aviation types than any other manufacturer under its Cessna Citation & Beechcraft brands, did launch into the large-cabin segment in 2015 with the Citation Hemisphere, its largest aircraft to date. However, it abandoned the programme three years later over problems with the Safran Silvercrest engine. Although, Gulfstream retains the power to surprise. Several of its launches have only been revealed when the programme is already well down its development path; some have even flown. However, with new-ish types in almost every segment it competes in, other than the super-midsize G280, it is hard to see which gap Gulfstream might feel the need to fill. The Honda Aircraft Company Echelon remains the only acknowledged clean-sheet business jet in early-stage development. Alongside Embraer, Cirrus Aircraft & Pilatus Aircraft Ltd, the airframer is the only other successful new entrant to the business jet market since the 1990s. At the other end of the business aircraft spectrum, Airbus still has high hopes for the corporate version of its A220-100 #airliner in a segment dominated by Bombardier, Dassault & Gulfstream. While the #ACJ TwoTwenty’s range of 5,650nm may be less than that of its ultra-long-range rivals, the derivative makes up for that in cabin dimensions. Nevertheless, my bet is still on Textron revisiting an old project that was “paused” at the time which might be worth a revisit. #businessjet’s are awesome! #bizjet #bizav

The capable Praetor 500 Embraer has a reputation for building excellent business #aircraft, & the Praetor 500 is no exception. It can hold its own relatively well against super-midsize aircraft at a midsize #jet price point. Unveiled at National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) in 2018, the Praetor 500 was launched as the upgraded version of Embraer’s Legacy 450. The Praetor 500 plugs the size gap between Embraer Executive Aircraft, Inc. Phenom 300 light #businessjet & its larger Praetor 600 super-midsize aircraft. The Praetor 500 sits between midsize & super-midsize categories, competing against the likes of the BOMBARDIER Challenger 350, Cessna Aircraft Company Citation Longitude & the Gulfstream Aerospace G280. With a maximum operating speed of #Mach 0.83 the Praetor 500 with a maximum range of 3,340 nm is one of the quicker midsize aircraft available although marginally slower than the G280 at Mach 0.85. It’s powered by two Honeywell Aerospace Technologies HTF7500E engines that each generate 7,528lbs of #thrust. The engines are derived from the HTF7000 family which has flown over seven million #flight hours. The Praetor 500 has superior airfield #performance compared to other midsize & super-midsize aircraft as it only needs 4,222 ft or #runway length at max take off weight. Lugano Airport Switzerland, & Santos Dumont airport, Rio De Janeiro, are just two examples of airports that the Praetor 600 is able to safely operate from at maximum takeoff weight while competitor aircraft can’t. The Praetor 500 is controlled using fly-by-wire which is normally fitted on larger aircraft, making it a standout aircraft. Proving popular among operators, Flexjet has been offering the aircraft to its customers since 2019, & is converting its existing Legacy 450 aircraft into Praetor 500s. They won’t be the only operator with a significant fleet, NetJets ordered up to 250 of the aircraft in 2023 in a deal worth over $5bn, with deliveries expected to begin in 2025. Business jet’s are awesome! #bizjet #bizav https://lnkd.in/eNas3PJ7
