Urban shift.
If you happened to miss it, some time ago in Milan, a cinema underwent a transformation into a sports-oriented complex. I had the chance to visit it a few months back, and it's fascinating to envision the space both as a cinema and now as a center for sporting activities.
The new function has had a positive impact on the neighborhood, offering fresh activities and opportunities for community engagement without disrupting its relationship with the surroundings.
The redevelopment project by Deamicis Architetti, totaling about 5000 square meters, has preserved the perimeter and volume of the existing building, with its 1930s facade, aiming to clarify the relationships between the different parts of the complex by assigning specific roles to the existing volumes: the entrance volume serves as the point of contact with the city and historical memory, while the large hall represents the building's rebirth.
