Being a decent human being can significantly enhance your skills as a media relations expert. Genuine kindness, empathy, and integrity build trust and foster long-lasting relationships with journalists and media contacts. When you treat others with respect and consideration, you're more likely to be seen as a reliable and credible source. This trust leads to more meaningful collaborations and greater media coverage. By prioritizing transparency, timely communication, and mutual respect, you create a positive and productive environment that benefits both you and your media partners. #MediaRelations

A positive change in society occurs with a change in mindset, but also with offering a new, crystal clear vision. A new perception of a better world that, although it does not yet exist, but is very much possible. For me, the role of Public relations in this process of encouraging change is crucial. Changing perception is one of the most difficult task, but for me it is also the greatest necessity and most sacred duty. The world as it could be. Can you imagine? Can you achieve it? Like a lot of wisdom that looks suspiciously injudicious nonsense, one of the gem is what others think of you is none of your business. What others think of you is definitely your business. It's your main job in life to do tireless Public Relations, and spin control for yourself. You must be loved, respected, and above all, taken seriously. You have to constantly do it to create perception in eyes of your relatives, bosses, and colleagues. This is the reason you post certificates, accolades, and competence proofs on LinkedIn and pictures of you as responsible individual on social media. #wisdom #randomthought #perception #hypocrisy #socialmedia #linkedin #publicrelations #pr #contrarythought #sarcasm #irony

Award-winning communications consultant helping organizations improve their business writing and news writing skills. ✍️
Media Relations Tip: Always treat all reporters with equal respect, regardless of the size of the news organization where they currently work. The reporter at the local community paper or small business journal might one day wind up at a major daily or even later at a national media outlet. If you treat such a person poorly or disregard their deadlines early in their career, do you think they won't remember that later? Kindness and respect go a long way in all relationships, including those with reporters.

Senior level PR Consultant and fractional PR executive Short-term, one-off, or long-term PR/comms help Ongoing, or on-call PR/marketing comms counsel 1.35 million monthly content views
Frustrating reality about media relations: Hard work doesn’t always result in press coverage ✅Timing ✅A reporter’s inbox, or workload, or interest level, or tolerance for sifting through pitches that day ✅ The story you have to pitch isn’t that strong, and your best efforts to shine it up and make it as relevant/newsworthy as you can just aren’t good enough this time ✅Breaking hard news ✅Breaking offbeat news Are all forces beyond your control that can impact whether your pitch breaks through or even gets read. If it didn’t go your way today, don’t let it throw you. Dust yourself off and get ‘em next week.

President & Founder @ Indicate Media | Veteran Communications Executive | B2B Tech & VC Storytelling Expert
Here’s the truth: The goal of a media relations campaign is for businesses to talk about themselves, pitch their products and services, and get featured in stories. But the trick of the trade is to recognize it is not always about you. Journalists get turned off by megaphone-wielding evangelists. One of the best things executives can do is recognize how much to give and how much to take when it comes to telling their story. By understanding a journalist's motivations, wants, and needs, a spokesperson can find balance. And balance in storytelling leads to better results.
