Things have slowed substantially. I placed 7 in January, 2 in February. But it's March that has me worried. I'll be lucky to place 2 in March. Slowest I've been since November 2020. I did need a break lol! November 2020 - July 2022: 100% corporate - Booming! Record pace! July 2022 - Dec. 2023 - mix of practice areas hiring in TX - steady 2023 - Heavy litigation (record pace for lit HOU only), L&E, IP, Healthcare January 2024 - Litigation and Finance I've got a line of candidates to go around a city block but not enough jobs. Litigation kept me on a record breaking pace in 2023 but something changed in February. It's steady in Houston but not like July - January. While I have 3 corporate jobs, those firms are wanting super stars only. You need to be perfect in all ways to get the interview. The person who gets the offer is accepting because they don't have other options meaning candidate 2 and 3 are rejected even though they are exceptional. I am curious. Did your February slow? What is everyone else seeing in the lateral associate market? Why is Dallas associate hiring so much slower than Houston? I'm obsessed with hiring statistics so please share your insights in the comments below.

Travis Houston , I am excited to see this. It addressed a concern I had which you will see below. This is the first time this type of position has been created, but I am retired and may be woefully out of date. I have thought in the past that communities with the capacity should create such a position that could coordinate with the EM as well as plan and train for preparedness, mitigation and recovery, even if it is only for the staff doing outreach for the homeless and shelter operations. The coalition under this position would include the local Housing Authority, Homeless Task Force, nonprofit shelter operations or nonprofit groups working directly with the homeless and /or public multi-family residents. Forgive the generalization but public multi-family housing with many vulnerable residents needs to be connected with local emergency management and other resources. They may be competing for resources during a disaster without already having a place at the table. Which is why they are on this list. Some facilities may not have emergency or evacuation plans. They expect the residents to act for themselves in this non-assisted living facility. There may be preparedness training provided to the residents. The residents however often expect the administration to take care of them, particularly the mobility-impaired, if there is an evacuation. This will impact response, especially if they are in an older facility built in or near a flood zone in a flood event. I hope that the City of Dallas Office of Homeless Solutions' action in a metropolitan hub will generate discussion in other communities on their own plans. Is adding public multi-family housing too much? If my dated conclusions are off the mark everyone, please update and correct.
