Crowd management is becoming more and more urgent due to extreme weather events. The events industry really need to address crowd management systems and qualifications. As we've seen with the recent Summernats, people in 'crowd safety' vests are not the solution. Event organisers and venue managers need to understand crowd management plans in the same way they need to understand a financial plan or a production plan. Crowd management starts at the customers front door, not inside the venue. Issues like these in Brisbane are preventable because they are predictable.
