Remember this iconic MP tourism Ad? Well, the story behind the creation of this is as equally iconic. In an interview Piyush Pandey, the brain behind the MP Tourism campaign, shared an interesting story on how this campaign shaped. After they begged the contract for the MP tourism campaign, he went to MP's tourism ministry and proposed to shoot an ad film for the campaign. Ministry replied, that they don't have the budget for an ad shoot. They have very limited budget and if they spend it on ad shoot, they won't have any money left to run the ads anywhere. Piyush Pandey then proposed them to do still photography. He again got the same reply, that they don't have the budget. Now Piyush got really confused. How tocreate an ad with no budget, and that too for a big project like MP Tourism. And then something suddenly clicked in his mind. He asked ministry if they have any old slides of MP's places. The ministry said they have it, although some of them are in bad condition. Piyush Pandey took the slides. Then for the background music, he took the tune from a song which his father used to sing for him and his siblings, when he was a kid. After that he created a concept where pictures are put up in a bioscope and are coming on screen one by one. And Voila The magic was created. This concept of using a bioscope with a unique music made MP tourism's ad stand out. When it comes to promoting tourism, most of the states choose to shoot an ad showing live locations. The same was going to happen with MP tourism, if not for the lack of budget. And so Piyush Pandey was forced to think in a different direction, and thus the iconic MP Ajab hain, Sabse gajab hain's first ad was created. It also shows one more thing. Many marketers believe that to create a unique or extraordinary campaigns, you need big budgets. But It's not always necessary. To create amazing campaigns, all you need is creativity and our of the box thinking. If you have that then that's enough to create the magic. Not a surprise, more of a confirmation. A recent study reveals Gen Z travelers are increasingly turning to Instagram & TikTok to discover hotels, surpassing travel agencies and the likes of Google. Even myself, I jump to Instagram or YouTube to see glimpses of places I'm traveling to to help me plan my trip. This shift highlights the power of visual storytelling. Travelers crave a sense of vibe & experience, and social media delivers with engaging photos & videos. By being aware of this trend, hoteliers can take proactive steps to optimize their social media presence and ensure they're capturing interest from this key demographic.
