I see alottttttttt of 'advice' flying around on here most days. When I want information, I look for quality of source. One of the strongest signals for me is a source that has a lot of 'Reps'. They've done the thing they're talking about. Not just a couple of times, but a lot. My Reps are in Hiring Designers. My Reps are spread across 100's of different companies now, each hiring in a slightly unique way My Reps are negotiating 100's of offers for Designers. My Reps are in sitting between a Designer and a the Company hiring and seeing which Portfolios get a response and which don't. My Reps are in the 1000's of times Designers haven't progressed through interviews and why. I'm not a Designer I'm a Design Recruiter And that's where I have my reps and where I continue to build and strengthen myself daily.
Love this. When my team asks about skill building and growth one of my tips is always “reps.” Do it as many times as you can.
100%! Your reps create your unique specialization 💪🏻
Which is why you are one of the best!!
Well said man!

5moLove this Jared Tredly - and I'm a firm believer in reps too. After 28 years doing this, and all the reps those decades include, my specialities become clear, my process becomes faster and more streamlined, and the clients I help get a better return. I've hardly ever done any plumbing ... if I were to switch careers and start now, I'd need to do a LOT of reps folding myself round the back of a sink pedestal* to be as specialised as I am in design leadership!! lol *and with my back, 'folding' myself round anything is out of the question these days 😂
