#MayMentalHealthAwarenessMonth As we celebrate May as Mental Health Awareness Month, I would like to talk about most underdiscussed topic of “Men Mental Health”. Have you ever heard about a phrase "Male inexpressiveness" at your workplace or home? If not, in my personal opinion, your workplace or home need to do more on “Inclusion”. “Male Inexpressiveness” is more than just a phrase—it's a societal pressure that burdens men, compelling them to bury their emotions deep inside. These traditional gender norms dictate that men should be stoic and unfeeling, leaving them struggling in silence. But this silence comes at a cost, often leading to mental health struggles and a reluctance to seek support. It's time to challenge these norms and create spaces where men feel safe to express themselves. By fostering emotional expression, we can cultivate healthier relationships and promote mental well-being, both in and out of the workplace. Nancy Chodorow's groundbreaking thesis on male inexpressiveness delves into the societal pressures that compel men to suppress their emotions. She explores how traditional gender norms shape men's behavior and hinder their ability to express vulnerability openly. Chodorow advocates for fostering emotional literacy in men to promote healthier relationships and mental well-being. Happy to hear your thoughts in comment?
