Once upon a time, someone said 💬 “We are all storytellers. We all live in a network of stories. There isn’t a stronger connection between people than storytelling.”
Actually, it was Jimmy Neil Smith, Director of International Storytelling Center. (Yes, that nonprofit does exist, it's not just a figment of our imagination.)
What did Smith mean? 🤔
Well, you'd have to ask him to be absolutely sure, but here's our interpretation:
Tim grows up in London, then moves to Sheffield, where he meets Tam. They fall in love and have a couple of kids, Tin and Tia, who grow up in Sheffield, then move somewhere else. They too meet people along the way. Friends, lovers, and the odd driver who shouts at them because he thinks they're taking too long to cross the road. 🚸
Anyway, that's just Tim, Tam, Tin, Tia, some friends and lovers, and the shouty driver. But how many stories is that already? Loads. And they're all connected and make up a web of stories. Speaking of webs, there are all the spiders in the world. They too have their own stories. 🕸️
Stories connect us, whether we like it or not. Some of them are great, others less so, but they make us who we are. And we'll live happily ever after.
