When designing and implementing solutions it is critical to understand environmental constraints. These constraints are often tacked onto projects that deliver for the office environment first as 'future phase' and 'easy to tack on', which is far from my experience.

We live in a post cloud world, in which cloud capabilities are expected even where cloud isn't typically found (think low/no connectivity scenarios). OCI with its different deployment models managed to crack that, providing Cloud capabilities (not a simple extension) where it is needed and under the most extreme of operational restrictions. Today we received two edge units, the ultra (lightweight - battery operated) and the RED ( ruggedized and quite powerful). Some of our customers have been using these to run some rather interesting use cases such as - Facial detection out of a backpack - 5G site in a suitecase - Fully disconnected portable LLM engine - UltraLow Latency edge AI And many more scenarios taking the devices into the furthest edges of the world and providing cloud capabilities where they typically never existed.
