Finding the right candidate for a role can be challenging, especially lately. Many organizations are now slowing down the hiring process to better understand their candidates and see if they are a cultural fit for the organization. This shift has also helped because it gives both candidate and company more opportunities to evaluate each other and find the win-win.

The shortage of talent in today's competitive job market can be disconcerting. But is it really a lack of talent or our approach to finding and attracting it? Reflecting on my years in the recruiting business, I've concluded that we often limit ourselves by adhering strictly to job descriptions and requirements. Sometimes these do not capture the scope of what we are looking for in a candidate. Consider this: Perhaps the best candidate may not have the exact years of experience you’re looking for, but they possess a unique skill set and potential to become an asset to your organization. Instead of turning away from 'inadequate' applications, let's redirect our focus on exploring potential talent, their adaptability, and how they can contribute to our company’s success. Let's rethink talent acquisition!

Recruitment and Retention Strategist | Talent Acquisition | Managing Director at KD Recruitment Limited
You say you want to hire the BEST talent and yet some hiring managers treat candidates like it's an honour to work for YOU. This needs to stop as you will NEVER be able to RECRUIT or RETAIN this talent if your lack of self awareness gets in the way of how the market has changed! The candidates are interviewing YOU TOO. It’s a two way process. Why should they come and work for you???? It’s more competitive than ever now, and if you assume that candidates will just want to work for you, then I’m afraid to say that you will lose them to your competitors. ⭐️Be human ⭐️Have respect ⭐️Show empathy Employment is a mutual agreement between two parties that needs trust at its heart! Finding top hospitality talent in U.K. and beyond | Headhunter | Director of People Person | Ex-Michelin Star | Hospitality veteran using my voice to change the industry for better
If your organization isn’t a top-quality place to work, you’re not going to recruit top talent. We are mistaken thinking that hiring process starts from writing a job advert and looking at CV’s. The real hiring process starts from understanding the DNA of your company and from figuring out whether your organisation is a place where top talent is rewarded accordingly, and where they can flourish. Two questions you should ask are: 1️⃣Is my organisation giving talented people what they need to succeed? 2️⃣How can I get out of the way so they can succeed? It doesn't make sense to hire smart people and tell them what to do; we hire smart people so they can tell us what to do.

Why you can’t attract top talent! Of course we all want to hire ‘the best’. But you have appreciate who you are and where you’re at. Just because you're hiring, doesn’t mean people will want to work for you. You can’t expect to attract ‘the best’ when you are nowhere near the best yourself. My advice to hiring managers is to understand your realistic candidate market. Then do everything you can to make yourself as attractive as possible to the top talent in that market. Make your; ❇ Culture ❇ Values ❇ Pay ❇ Benefits ❇ Processes and overall offering the best you can. Then work with someone who knows your market and can sell the opportunity to the best people. Either that or keep wondering why your 'amazing opportunity' doesn't attract the top talent. Thoughts?

Why you should hire for skills and not talent In a market that is short on employees should we be hiring for skills and not talent? Instead of asking ‘does this person know how to do this’? We should ask ‘’can he/she learn it’’. https://buff.ly/3u4wRv9
