💥Do you agree with Mel Robbins post that "𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲"❓ Are you present, or do you just attend? What do leaders who are present do? 1. They ask questions (curious). 2. They listen 3. They are open to learning. 4. They are humble. 5. Make it safe for others to be fully present. 👇What have you or leaders you admire done to demonstrate authentic presence? I promise you there is something in this moment you are meant to learn, experience, or grow from. Whether it’s an amazing or terrifying moment in your life, it’s making you stronger and wiser. So whatever chapter you’re in right now, be in it. Don’t miss what life is trying to teach you.
And if we’re not present, it’s probably a signal thar we’re supposed to be somewhere else. How do leaders manage stay aware of this and manage their time accordingly?
This is exactly what I try to get at through my Cross-functioning Team Blueprints and L&D Workshops - Practice what the discipline of engagement feels like. Learning how to ask better questions. Patience to actually listen, with caring. Vulnerability to share your connection to what is being offered up. Maturity and resolve to actually follow through with something, or ask for help to affect change in the right direction. 💡Jay R. Weiser & Mel Robbins
Being present and in the moment is something that is under-valued especially as leaders. As leaders, putting the phones away, being on-time (which shows regard), being prepared and listening to understand during the entire interaction are skills that will advance teams and companies Jay R. Weiser.
Agreed Jay. Each of those 5 points is important and can make a difference. All of them together add up to the kind of leader people want to follow.
I am a HUGE Mel Robbins! I always find some much insight from her podcast. #leadership!
This post hits home on the importance of being truly present, not just attending. Leaders who embody authentic presence ask questions, listen, remain open to learning, and create a safe space for others to engage fully.
Jay R. Weiser's insights on the distinction between presence and mere attendance in #leadership are thought-provoking. It prompts me to reflect on how leaders I admire, including myself, strive to embody presence beyond attendance. How do others cultivate this authentic presence in their leadership journey?
I know this is meant to be business related but all I can think about is substituting "parents" for "leaders". Which I suppose is exactly what we are to our children.
I've interviewed hundreds of great leaders, and they all consider themselves to be great listeners.
