At 15, I was told I couldn’t get a Bachelor degree. Today, I’m a chartered engineer. When I was in high school, I didn’t fit in the mould. I wasn’t super interested by classes. Grades suffered. & a career advisor told me I couldn’t get a Bachelor degree. But my school director also told me the needs for tomorrow would be very different from the skills learnt at school. So I applied to architecture school. I was assessed on drawing skills, spatial representation, mental arithmetic and storytelling. None of this was taught in school. I got in. A week later, I was offered to join an additional engineering school thanks to evening classes. I, again, got in. These years were tough. But the most formative. 9am to 10pm courses most days with overlapping classes. But I developed unique knowledge in architecture, structural engineering, environmental engineering, climate science and what’s in between. This led to me → having 2 bachelor and 3 master degrees → opening my consultancy, because there was a need. → joining a leading sustainability consultancy in London. → decarbonising an estate of 24 000 schools in the UK. & seeing sustainability as a positive sum game. So thank you to all the people I met on the way. & remember: do not fit in the mould. You are not a cake. And there is so much more to explore. And as an engineer fellow said to me “It’s only the beginning.” 🌻 #architecture #engineering #sustainability #construction #career
Great work JB, and just in time too. Not a chance in hell you'd have time for a practice report in a couple of months time!
Well done Jean-Baptiste Clochet 👏
Congratulations
Congrats 🙌
Super! Diversity in education and practice! Like your style 😁😁😁
