The #energytransition might have launched the public discussion about #criticalminerals, but it will be #nationalsecurity concerns that inject some urgency to act. Canada has the reserves of #nickel #copper #cobalt #lithium and #graphite to be a global #mining powerhouse - but we don’t today produce enough to fill our refineries, let alone to refine more minerals for the incoming #EV factories nor to supply our friends and allies around the world to protect their environments, their economies and their borders. That may change - quickly. And government policy to inject capital to extract, process and recycle critical minerals may become urgent.
