🎄 🎄 Belated Day 8 of the 2023 Christmas Sandwich Review - it's a double review so just needed time to digest! 🎄 🎄 🔷🔶 I loved when the Greggs brand team launched their new menu at a food festival under the pseudonym 'Gregory & Gregory'. It was innovative, fun and also called out the negative bias we might have against Greggs' food. Check it out below and let me know what you think: https://lnkd.in/eNUsmkyU 🔶🔷 To further counteract that bias, I wanted to showcase the (heated) delights of their Christmas menu this year: the Christmas Lunch Toasted Baguette and, of course, the Festive Bake. So how did they fare? ✅✖ Looks: Greggs isn't typically known for its presentation; I loved the lattice and crumb on top of the Festive Bake, although can recommend keeping the Christmas Lunch Baguette in the paper bag... ✅✖ Taste: Both definitely punched above their weight - the Bake had a great mix of chicken, stuffing, cranberry and gravy / sauce, with a lovely crispy bite. The Baguette had a good mix of chicken, bacon, and cheese, although quite heavy on the bread. Sadly no greenery, and couldn't really taste the cranberry underneath a lot of onion. ✖✖ Quality: Maybe a lower level of ingredient quality than some competitor sandwiches, but probably on a par with many! ✅✅ Price: both naturally great value overall, both under £3.70! Overall scores: Festive Bake: 7.5/10 - a classic Greggs bake, getting me in the Christmas mood, but loses points for chicken not turkey... Christmas Lunch Baguette: 5.5/10 - tasty, but definitely loses marks for too much bread and again, no turkey! #greggs #christmassandwichreview #wherestheturkey?
