Feeding the Nation with great tasting freshly prepared food.

About us

Greggs is a leading food-on-the-go retailer with over 2,400 shops nationwide and serving over six million customers a week. We stand for great tasting, freshly prepared food that our customers can trust, at affordable prices and aim to become the customers’ favourite for food-on-the-go. With ambitions to grow to over 3,0000 shops nationwide and ownership of our supply chain, we are in a unique position to make quality, freshly prepared food accessible to anyone, anywhere. Our supply network... is being reshaped to support growth and compete more effectively in the food-on-the-go market. We're investing in a major programme to support shop expansion substantially beyond 3,000 outlets in the UK. Our shops... are being refurbished and relocated in locations away from high streets such as retail and industrial parks, motorway service stations and travel hubs, to meet the demands of busy food-on-the-go customers. Our franchise model continues to offer opportunities for further growth in non-high street locations. Our product offer... is differentiated by the way we freshly prepare food in our shops each day and offer customers outstanding value for good quality, great tasting food-on-the-go, at any time of day. A hungry child can struggle to concentrate and learn. That's why, for 25 years, The Greggs Foundation has been committed to helping children start their day with a good breakfast. Thanks to Greggs customers and colleagues, our Spring Breakfast Club Appeal raised an incredible £150,000+ and our second appeal week of 2024 is now live and running from 25th to 31st August. You can help a child have a nutritious start to their day by: - Buying a Jammy Heart biscuit. Usually, 5p per biscuit sold goes to The Greggs Foundation, but this is increased to 10p during appeal week. - Donating 25p at tills in-shop, or on Greggs App orders during appeal week and all year-round. We are proud to celebrate our 40th anniversary as a publicly listed company on the London Stock Exchange. To commemorate this momentous event, Roisin Currie, our Chief Executive, officially closed the market yesterday. Greggs floated on the LSE in 1984 as a business with just over 260 shops. We have since grown to a leading food-on-the-go retailer with over 2,500 shops in the UK and 32,000 employees. We’d like to say a big thank you to our colleagues, customers, and shareholders for their continued support over the years. Today, we announced our Interim Results for the 26 weeks ended 29 June 2024. Our strong performance continued - delivering on our strategic growth plan and building on last year’s record performance. Total first-half sales were up 13.8%, with company-managed shop like-for-like sales up 7.4%. We opened 99 new shops, including 30 relocations and 25 with our franchise partners, with further openings through our partnerships with Tesco and Sainsbury’s, as well as extending our presence in London with a new shop at Embankment Station. To facilitate further expansion, we are moving ahead with plans for two brand new state-of-the-art facilities in the midlands and have secured our first site in Derby, which we expect to open in late 2026 and we recently announced our second site in Kettering which, subject to planning, should be operational in the first half of 2027. Our success is founded on the exceptional quality and value that Greggs offers to customers looking for food and drink on-the-go and the fast and friendly service delivered by our colleagues. In this video, Roisin Currie, our Chief Executive, summarises these and other key milestones we have reached so far in 2024: https://lnkd.in/eYGPfxGN

In partnership with Tritax Symmetry, we're pleased to announce plans to deliver a new National Distribution Centre at Symmetry Park in Kettering, as we continue to invest in our supply chain capacity.   Building on our long-term plans to grow our estate to significantly more than 3,000 shops in the UK, this investment will enable us to directly supply both ambient and chilled products to our growing portfolio of shops.   Subject to planning, we expect the Centre to be operational in the first half of 2027. We donate a share of the profits from these shops to our corporate charity, the Greggs Foundation, who work with a number of community organisations across the UK to help those who need it most. We shared the work of The Marie Trust in our recent impact report to shine a light on the many initiatives managed by this busy organisation to help alleviate homelessness and promote greater social inclusion in Glasgow, Scotland.   We visited the The Marie Trust earlier in the year to find our more about the work they do from their city centre hub and how the Greggs Foundation Community Grant is used in the subsidised community cafe. Thanks to Frances McKinley and the wonderful team for taking the time to be part of this short film ❤️

In line with our plans to expand our manufacturing and logistics network, we are delighted to announce we have entered into a lease agreement for a new state-of-the-art frozen production and logistics facility at SmartParc SEGRO plc in Spondon, Derby.   The new site is expected to open in late 2026 and will provide us with additional capacity to serve up to 3,500 shops in the UK. It will include new sweet and savoury production lines, as well as logistics for frozen storage and fully automated robotic order picking and distribution solutions from Swisslog, one of the world’s leading logistics automation companies.   The new site has been designed with sustainability at its heart, including a shared Energy Centre (a centralised heating and cooling system that recycles heat from refrigeration plants across the estate), a rainwater harvesting system, PV panels and EV charging points.   To find out more, visit: https://lnkd.in/eifteqwS
