In my last post, I alluded to the emotional side of selling Rowe. I can almost feel every British person scrolling on quickly, but if you really want to understand the impact of due diligence and passing over the metaphorical keys, you cannot supress those emotions! We were warned it would be the hardest part of the process, but we underestimated the toll. Rowe was not created with a view to selling. It had a purpose, a voice and became a family with a dynamic culture that defined the brand. I sometimes wish we had solely set out to grow and sell. It would have been easier but far less satisfying. Emotions throughout due diligence ranged from excitement and optimism, to anger and bone crushing numbness. With a few others in-between. What made it harder was the rollercoaster of it all. We never knew from day to day which emotion would kick in. Looking back, I have no idea how we didn’t take to alcohol although my jeans testify to the increased chocolate intake. We also dealt with it in different ways. This was not a surprise because it reflected the way we worked in the company. Paul grieved during the process whereas I threw all my energy and focus into the moment. I became a tearful wreak afterwards and still find moments hard. Overall, I am still excited about the integration with CACI Ltd but find it hard to watch at times. Both Paul and I consider ourselves lucky because of the support and understanding we have received from all in Rowe and CACI Information Intelligence. But it will take a long time to fully process what we have achieved and been through. And that is ok because it is part of life and learning. Overall, we are stronger people having been through the sale but for those considering this path - under estimate the process and it will take you down!
